An immersive historical fiction novel set in India. Loot by Tania James begins in Mysore in the 1790s, and a young woodcarver called Abbas is summoned to the palace of Tipu Sultan to help a French clockmaker, Lucien du Leze build a clockwork tiger.

And so starts a series of events that will see the end of Tipu Sultans reign, Abbas’ journey to France and his subsequent quest to find and recover the tiger for himself. It’s a tale full of adventure, danger and romance. I really enjoyed it!

She is helping the police solve the murder of Robert Poole, whose body was found in the apartment of a mentally unstable woman, Michelle Doyce. The police are ready to close the case. With Michelle unfit to stand trial, she will spend her time in a mental institution....Case Closed! But Freida saw past all that into something much more. Putting her life on the line and confronting witnesses without the help of the police, are just part of what makes up Dr. Klein. And, you'll never guess who did it. The book had me on the edge of my seat from page one.

Can't wait to read more in this series and really bummed that I didn't read [b:Blue Monday|10940958|Blue Monday (Frieda Klein, #1)|Nicci French|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1327188223s/10940958.jpg|15858219] first, but it has been add to my "To Read" list.

The part about this book that made me give it five stars is that it had me from the beginning and it was hard to figure out who the killer was. Too many people had a motive. Nicci French did a really amazing job of keeping the suspense.

Hubbard, Ohio, is celebrating the 130th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty, and Terminal on the Tracks is getting into the act by featuring French food. Laurel has worked hard on the menu with the help of Sophie’s friend Rocky. Rocky has been looking forward to the festival, but she starts to act weird when it kicks off. After missing the fireworks, Laurel goes to Rocky’s house to find Rocky dead. But why would someone want to kill her?

This book features a nice twist on things as Laurel finds herself having to figure out why someone might want to kill Rocky and then find a potential suspect that fits that motive. I enjoyed getting to see how that played out. She does come up with the correct motive and suspect for a wonderful climax. We don’t see as much of some of the supporting characters from the first book as I expected, but this allowed Laurel to really grow here. We do get to see plenty of a couple of supporting characters, and the new characters are wonderful as well.
