Tense, gripping, rather quite sad
I was a bit initially sceptical about this film, which I am with any film including Brad Pitt, however, it was much better than expected. First of all hats off to Marion Cottilard once again, for giving a powerful performance, and well done to Brad Pitt and his great efforts in speaking quite a considerable amount of French in the film. It is tense, and harrowing, as Brad Pitt, a Canadian high-ranking officer working in the British Army is put in the worst position possible - causing him to doubt his own wife. I admit, I sobbed a bit at the end. Not bad at all.

A translated French graphic novel, Clara is a little girl whose life is turned upside down. Told from her point of view, the sense of confusion is real with the reader having to work out what has happened to the little girl's life along with her and that journey tugs on the heart-strings of even the most callous reader. The gift of the doll starts off this confusion, the reader will understand the significance of the gift from an adults perspective but be wrenched by Clara's reaction to it. A good read, a good thought provoking narrative, a story that is likely to stay with you for many years.

A Book About Books
I am conscious that I haven't put up a read harder challenge post for a while. Honestly, I was feeling a bit intimidated of going out of my comfort zone and trying something new.

So here I am, reading a book about books.

A book about Jacques Bonnet a French literary critic who owns roughly 40,000 volumes of books. Bonnet talks about his troubles with dealing with a library that big but also about things we don't think about like categorising books, finding a home for them among many other things

I've been trying to finish this book for months. Today, I realized that I didn't actually care what happened, so I stopped reading.
It started slow, then got slightly more interesting once WWI started. HOWEVER, I picked up this book because I thought it was going to be more about the artists at the time.
The description of the book is very misleading, if you want to read a mildly interesting memoir about a kid who participated in the French Resistance and was "related" to Matisse. Honestly, bringing up the uncertainty of who this dude's biological father was a side note and didn't make sense.
