"The brilliant chemistry between Daveed Diggs and Rafael Casal uniquely and poetically captures a black man and a white man’s friendship and the competing social standards that they each must live by. Diggs plays a man who cannot afford to make the mistakes that his best friend can, and lives in waking fear of a terrible threat that his best friend will never have to confront. The final encounter with the police officer beautifully captures the pressures of carrying a gun (police) vs. the pressure of fearing that gun (black Americans)."

"I love intimate ensemble pieces that allow you to get to know the dynamic amongst a group of characters without overly complex plot lines. The movie certainly made me wish I’d grown up with those people. You know, despite their flaws. They really had such a wonderful, deep love and friendship between them that I think is meaningful. It’s a phenomenal cast and I just loved the history that was created amongst the characters without it being fed to you; it was unraveled for you throughout the film."

in depth, behind the life, very informative (0 more)
A well written account not just of Meat Loafs life and career but also of the parallel and somewhat different career of the other half of Meat Loaf, namely Jim Steinman. This book goes deeper into the lives of both individuals and deals with the traumas and triumphs in both lives. It also deals with friendship and dare i say 'partnership' of the two. If you want to know the inside story of the truth behind Meat Loafs incredible and long career, then i would recommend this book :)
