This is an AMAZING book, and the twist at the end was shocking. I actually had to close the book for a full ten minutes and think it over. No, not telling what it is. This review will remain spoiler-free.

Yorgos Lanthimos brings a sense of Blackadder to the big screen in sumptuous art house comedy The Favourite (2019)
Move over Bess (and, I suspect, pre-emptive apologies to Margot Robbie) there’s a new award-baiting Queen on the block: oft-overlooked 18th Century sovereign Queen Anne...

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2086 KP) rated The Chocolate Jewel Case (A Chocoholic Mystery, #7) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Lee and Joe are starting off their married life with a house full of guests. But that's nothing compared to a string of burglaries and the man showing up claiming to be Joe's long dead father. I missed many of the series regulars, and the plot wandered around a big before it really took off. Fans of the series will enjoy it.

Hazel (2934 KP) rated The Loving Husband: You'd Trust Him with Your Life, Wouldn't You...? in Books
Jan 12, 2018
I have previously read one of Christobels novels - The Crooked House - which although I enjoyed I found it a confusing read and I felt the same way about The Loving Husband although there was less enjoyment with this one.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2086 KP) rated Blood Matters (Roxanne Prescott, #2) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
When adoption guru Sam Brennan is found bludgeoned to death in his house, it starts San Diego Sheriff Department detective Roxanne Prescott on a trail of long hidden secrets. The plot was uneven and really seemed to slow down in second half.

The early naughties destructive Japan
There was a slew of angry rebellious nihilistic cinema in this period and Blue Spring may just be the most punk rock of them all. Its an artistic nasty little film full of violence and tension, as if art House got really pissed off and decided to say eff you. A seminal piece of cinema

Hazel (2934 KP) rated The Doll's House (Helen Grace, #3) in Books
Jan 12, 2018
This is the third book in a series but the first I have read. I think I was at a slight disadvantage not having read the first two but not so much as it spoiled things for me because I was highly entertained by this book.
