very funny, nostalgic, moving, (0 more)
Whenever i think of Eric Idle, two things come to mind. One is the obvious one, that he was one of the Monty Python team. The other is that he wrote and sang the theme tune for One Foot in the Grave. After reading this autobiography its clear i hardly had even scratched the surface. Over a very long career, he has starred in several movies including the brilliantly funny Nuns on the Run. He has written stage shows and plays. He has travelled around the world more times than Phillaes Fogg and he has met more famous people that i would have thought possible. In this book he tells it all from his early days writing, to organising the final Monty Python tour. He also covers the amazingly brilliant Spamalot (I saw it in Blackpool). He pulls no punches and his honest and frank appraisal of his behaviour is something you don't see very often. A very good read and very informative with lots of anecdotes and real life stories

Blue Christmas Balls
By Nick Spalding

A laugh out loud seasonal novella from Nick Spalding, the bestselling author of the smash hit comedies Fat Chance & Love... From Both Sides.

One man. Three women. Twelve days to achieve Yuletide sexual glory!

Christmas is coming and Matt Bunion is on a mission. Somehow, he's made the huge mistake of remaining a virgin well into his twenties - a grievous error he fully intends to rectify before the Queen's speech starts.

But it's not going to be easy...

What with strange requests to molest living room furniture, painfully inserted action figures, and an extremely festive lady of the night, Matt will be lucky to reach Boxing Day with his pride and manhood still intact.

Ok so it was a little funny but in some parts trying to be too funny! For a novella it wasn’t bad at all I would definitely read more of his work! Don’t think I’ll look at an Ewok without thinking of this book though 😂!

Burke just wants to be wooed!
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.

This is book 2 in The Rhubarb Effect series, and you should probably read Sticky for You, book 1, before this one. There is a bit of an ongoing story arc and that book sets the scene for this one. And you know, it's a FUN read!

As is this one! THis is Ricky and Burke's story. Ricky is a pole dancing rhubarb stalk and Burke is a mini bull. There are lots and LOTS of one liners in this book. Full of rhubarb jokes again, but also with poles, and balls and bull jokes. SOme very funny moments, but also some emotional ones.

Burke is very sensitive and Ricky is a bit like a (I apologise for using this, but I really couldn't find any other words that would fit!) bull in a china shop! He wants Burke, balls and all, and Burke just wants to be wooed.

I'm loving these books. They really are perfect for just having a quick, slightly silly read. Smexy, yes but with humour, and a touch of drama.

The monsters are still about, and no one knows who they are, but Max has a clue who they might be. I'm looking forward to finding out!

Book 3 is set up nicely, with that one about Apollo, another lion like Max and a rather grumpy rhubarb stalk!

4 insane stars (cos, I mean, where do they get these ideas from!)
