This isn't my usual genre of book but something about the cover intrigued me. Since starting it, I have struggled to put it down, I immediately felt a connection with the three main characters and wanted to know more.
There was a couple of minor moments in which I felt another proof read would have done it justice in order to iron out a few mistakes. Near the end of the book, something happened out of the blue, I completely didn't expect it. However finding out about it was very abrupt and almost felt like the chapter should have ended with me questioning what the result was. (Sorry, trying not to put any spoilers in.)
Overall it was an easy, funny read, that tackled some serious issues in a light hearted way. It has certainly inspired me to get up and get what I want from life!

Presumed Puzzled (Puzzle Lady #17)

Roger Martindale is missing, and his wife, Pamela, has received a crossword puzzle. That evening, he returns home only to be hacked to death. Chief Harper thinks that Pamela did it since she was found with the bloody knife in her hand, but the twists for Puzzle Lady Cora Felton are just beginning.

And twists there are. Yes, Cora is right in the thick of things, and as the book progresses she gets even more involved. The characters are a little thin, but they usually are in this series. The real star here is the verbal battles the characters have, which are fun and funny as always. The quick wit and the banter made me laugh several times before we reached the logical conclusions.

Caro’s neighbor, Kitty, is a publicist to the stars, but her cats are also becoming clients. You see, Kitty’s cats are artists, and Caro is spending her evening at a showing for some of their paintings along with other animal artists. The evening ends in tragedy, however, when Kitty dies in a car crash. Except the crash isn’t what killed her. Caro doesn’t want to get dragged into another mystery, but when she does, can she find the truth?

This book is a ton of fun. We get some absurd situations and delightfully funny characters as we go along. The plot could be a little stronger, but I was having so much fun, I didn’t care too much. We do get some good twists and suspects before reaching the end.

Spaced Out (Moon Base Alpha #2)

When you are living in a small base on the moon, it’s hard to vanish. And yet, that’s exactly what has happened to Nina Stack, the commander. Dash Gibson finds himself in the middle of the hunt for the missing woman, all the time with one thought in the back of his mind – if they don’t find her soon, time might run out.

This is a delightful combination of mystery and science fiction that will keep fans of either genre turning pages. The characters are sharp and well done. There are plenty of twists and clues. Plus there are some very funny scenes. My only warning is that this book spoils the first in the series, but that’s a very minor issue since both books are delightful reads.

Embrace the Night (Cassandra Palmer, #3)
Embrace the Night (Cassandra Palmer, #3)
Karen Chance | 2008 | Erotica, Paranormal, Romance
I'm rereading this book for the third time and it's still as funny and sexy as the first time. Cassie is so engaging, it's hard to find such well written characters that you can truly see yourself being friends with and wanting to meet. Not just because you like them, but because they feel real.

In Embrace the Night, the third book in the Cassie Palmer series, we start to see a much wider picture with new characters and new enemies popping up - and it doesn't seem like Cassie's "usual run of bad luck" no there seems to be a greater - more sinister - purpose that is getting the baddies with the big guns to crawl out to the woodwork to attack our poor little clairvoyant.

Tons of fun, and be prepared to fall even more irrevocably in love with Pritkin and Mircea. What a love triangle to be in.

I got this for two reasons - 1) it was free and 2) I like paranormal romance. I can quite honestly say that I'm very glad that I did and have sat down and read it in a couple of hours as I wanted to find out what happened!

I loved the storyline in it and even though I knew who the "traitor" was, it in no way diminished my enjoyment of the story as a whole. I loved how Phoebe's story was told throughout the book and how Aidan was trying to get information from her. The secondary characters in this book are also believable and funny. It also makes a very refreshing change to have the main female as scared, unsure and carrying physical scars without being a complete wuss.

Loved reading it and will definitely be keeping it!

Favourite character? Definitely Aiden!
