A great addition to the MCU line up. This to me was a little known comic. I actually had to look it up. The movie did it great justice with awesome effects, great acting and a amazing cast. It also brings us really to the first step in meeting the great Thanos who joins us in 2018. GOTG is a non stop comedy nd action flick that brings more of the futuristic look to the current MCU

Those of you that love sci-fi reading either know of or should be familiar with Harry Harrison's "Stainless Steel Rat" series.
It's a futuristic Robin Hood style story with the action and intrigue of James Bond with the moral flexibility of Han Solo.
It's amazing that this has never made it to the big screen, seeing as how it has most genres covered: action, mystery, thriller, romance, science, technology, fantasy, sci-fi, politics and family.

It's easy reading, go enjoy the trip.

Thanks for reminding me of that series. I enjoyed it, too. May be time for a reread.

Scarlett Johansson's soulful action spectacle proves the purists wrong
Critic Review by Tim Robey - The Telegraph
Original Score: 4 out of 5

Excerpt:
For Johansson, this could easily be a franchise in the making, her own futuristic, post-human equivalent of a John Wick or Bourne. It needs the embrace of a willing audience first, but with trappings this glintingly cool and seductive, it’s hard to see how the offer can be refused.

Clever, well written, paced well, wrap up is well done. (1 more)
Well written and shot, really draws you into how it all connects ,
Four individuals across time converge, think twelve monkeys, cloud atlas and the fisher king
Contains spoilers, click to show
A sci-fi fantasy that draws you into the world of mental illness, four seemingly unrelated people converge , a suicidal daughter, a jilted lover, a futuristic vigilante and a father seeking his lost son. A fantastically shot film, that will need you seeking the ending, and it won't disappoint.

I'm going to start on a "blanket theory".
My theory is for the fantasy/fiction genre:
I don't think anyone is legitimately dead unless one of two things happen
1. You see the dead body.
2. Two or more credible characters say that a person is actually dead.
although, there are some (like the futuristic & a few magic sub-genres) that rules 1 & 2 have to be present.
Has anyone else noticed this?
(Horror doesn't apply because they have their own set of crazy rules.)

"It was a very powerfully influential piece of music because it was very advanced and futuristic in the way the arrangements are so unique, and in the way that they were breaking all kinds of rules. It was probably the template for most film music, which many musicians ended up borrowing the style of and introducing into cinematic media. So it was a very, very important piece of music. I loved it when I discovered it, especially when I found out there were little links between this and Bernstein."

It was an interesting retelling of Cinderella only more futuristic, with people living on the moon and cyborgs living amongst people.

I liked the story but wasn't blown away by it. It kept me reading but at the same time I wasn't completely absorbed into it, like I am most other stories.

The thing between Cinder and Kai was cute, I just wish their had been more scenes of them together in the book.

I'm intrigued by what will happen in the next book, and maybe at some point I'll buy it and read it.

3.5 stars.

It was a little shaky at the start for me, what with their being a sex scene almost straight away, but once Hades entered the picture I was quite content to continue reading.

I found the storyline good but also a little odd in places, it was like a mix of different genre's; futuristic, paranormal, fantasy.

Can't say I was a fan of the ending but since I know there's a second book in the series, it helps to create a...foothold? shall we say for it to continue from.

Oof. I get the draw. Cram a ton of your favorite 80's trivia into a futuristic plot and call it a day. And it is great fun knowing the things the characters praise as obscure puzzles and information. But there are problems. 1) Without the nostalgia of vomiting 80's references, there's little to glean from the story itself. 2) The extremely problematic relationship that the hero pursues that gives a platform for incel's everywhere. 3) An action oriented plot that kind of just sputters out. Rough finish. Great story if you see toxic online behavior as "misunderstood," though.
