Independent reviewer for Gay Romance Reviews, I was gifted my copy of this book.
This is book 2 in the Blood and Bonds series, and I STRONGLY recommend you read book one, Touch In The Night, before this one. It will givev you Tyler and Lucien's meeting, but it will also give you the background you need about the haemophiles and how they live in this world. It will, as well, give you what the rest of the haemophiles think of Lucien, that's very important.
Because when we get to hear why Lucien does what he does, I was surprised! He's not quite the bad guy he's portrayed to be.
I loved how Tyler flips his opinion of Lucien, when faced with the consequences of his actions, it made for a speedy turnaround, butit alos made Tyler see, really see Lucien, and what he has been doing, and why. The history of the vampire of this world is different to anthing I've read before and I love that.
Again, only Tyler gets a say. And again, I wish we had heard from Lucien. I really think this would be a 5 star if he had.
Somethinghappens right near the end of thisbook that has thrown me for a loop, and this book ends on a bit of a cliff hanger and it makes me think if Lucien and Tyler will appear again. Emory and Jesse appear here, from book one.
Again, 4 very VERY good stars.

ACCIDENTALLY LIVING WITH THE CAPTAIN is the third book in the Chicago Awakenings series. I haven't read any of the others, and I don't think it made that big of an impact when reading this one.
If you like books with Golden Retriever energy, then you've picked up the right one, as this one is FULL of it. Hudson is the captain of the Werewolves, and thinks he has the perfect life, until he gets served by his soon-to-be ex-wife on camera. Adrian is gay and flirts with everyone, so no one feels left out. He has also had a massive crush on Hudson for years. He steps in to help when Hudson is still stunned, and it goes from there.
This a SLOW BURN in every sense of the word, concentrating more on emotions, damned feelings, and connections, rather than hot s3x. Although, when they do? It's hot. Just saying. These two are the biggest green flags out there. Both of them want to care for others, showing their love in quiet ways, like serving a meal instead of making them dish their own. I mean, yes, they have their flaws too. Both were so afraid of rocking the boat, it about killed me.
A low-angst, slow burn of a book that I thoroughly enjoyed and have no hesitation in recommending.

Regret (Under My Skin #1) by Christina Lee
Regret is the first book in the Under My Skin series, and is a fantastic second-chance romance. Brin fell hard for Nick when he was younger, but due to Nick's 'cowardice' they broke up before things could really get started. Fast forward and Brin finds out that Nick is the roommate of his friend, where he will also be staying whilst his condo is put back together after a flood. Brin finds out he still holds a lot of resentment towards Nick, and feelings too. He is confused over what he feels, and gives Nick hell, who just seems to accept everything Brin throws at him. Brin becomes intrigued and is determined to find out more, as Nick continues to worm his way past Brin's defences and into his heart.
This story is a second chance story, with a hint of enemies to lovers, and also an openly gay vs. closeted in the mix too. There is something here for everyone, and it is exceedingly well told. Although Brin can hold onto a grudge, he is also prepared to accept people have changed. It may take him a while, but he isn't completely closed off to the notion. As for Nick, boy, that man really needs to have some therapy. I can completely understand the guilt he feels, but to hold onto it for so long, so strongly, well, it made my heart break.
With no editing or grammatical errors that disrupted my reading flow, this was a story that pulled me in and wouldn't let go until I'd finished. Absolutely brilliant, and definitely recommended by me.

Although Brin can hold onto a grudge, he is also prepared to accept people have changed. It may take him a while, but he isn't completely closed off to the notion. As for Nick, boy, that man really needs to have some therapy. I can completely understand the guilt he feels, but to hold onto it for so long, so strongly, well, it made my heart break.
With no editing or grammatical errors that disrupted my reading flow, this was a story that pulled me in and wouldn't let go until I'd finished. Absolutely brilliant, and definitely recommended by me.

Margie Peterson is your typical stay at home mom. As if carpool lines, PTA fundraisers, and school newsletters weren't enough to keep her busy, she decides to take a part-time job to help with the family finances. The job she took is not one that is typical of a stay home mom, but it's one that is sending her on quite an adventure. She gets the opportunity to work for a private investigator. The job is simple, but could be dangerous at times. Her first case goes off without a hitch(almost). The second, on the other hand, get really complicated really fast when she finds a dead body in the bathroom of a gay bar!
Margie Peterson is the mom we all hope that we could be. She's strong, fearless, and is able to think quickly on her feet. All great characteristics of a private investigator, but it tends to also get her in trouble from time to time.
This book had me laughing out loud, and sitting on the edge of my seat. There is a twist around every corner and mystery that you have to get to the bottom of. I enjoyed this book, but only gave it three stars because even though it had me on the edge of my seat, it took a while for me to get there. It took me nearly a month to read this book. Some because my life has gotten busy and there is hardly any time to read. But books that are hard to put down find a time to get read.
I do recommend this book for mystery/thriller/chick-lit. And I will read more from this author and this series.

And then another body appears on the scene. The only apparent link is that they are gay, beautiful young men.
While all this is happening, Rachel’s younger daughter is kidnapped but there is nothing to suggest where the murderer might have taken her. Meantime, Rachel is trying to keep her relationship with the crime boss a secret from her team but relies on him to help find her daughter.
This is the first book in a new police procedural series, featuring DCI Rachel King and her sidekick DS Elwyn Price, set in and around Manchester. The novel is a police procedural with lots of action.
You will find plenty of twists and turns in this thriller which will keep you on the edge of your seat.
The characters and plot are well developed and I couldn't read this fast enough as I was so gripped with the story.
I think this is gonna be another great series from this fabulous author.
