When it was announced that the CW was going to attempt to bring Archie and the gang to mainstream, I was pumped. I'm a huge fan of the comics, and still purchase the digests.
I got 4 episodes into this trash before I gave up. The characters were all warped beyond any recognition. The plot and dialogue is cheesy and eye-roll inducing.
The biggest affront was them completely ruining Betty. Betty has been a role model of mine since I was a little kid. It was disgusting.
I told myself I'd go back and try to watch this again... but I can't justify wasting the time. I'd rather go watch grass grow in the desert.

You get what you expect
I was intrigued to see what Mel Gibson was up to these days. And I pretty much got what I expected. This is a pretty much by the numbers action flick. You get all the cliches: Gibson's grizzled old vet, a mature cop with secrets, and the green rookie. They also throw in the stereotypic Latin gang and Bosworth's very generic doctor. It all flows as you'd expect with an ending a blind man can see a mile away. Set the bar low and wasn't disappointed. Just got some actiony cheese to fill some time. Just really hoping the talent in this movie raises the bar in their projects heading forward.

The True History Of The Kelly Gang
The True History Of The Kelly Gang
Peter Carey | 2001 | Biography, Fiction & Poetry, History & Politics

Book Favorite

"Carey is one of my favorite writers. The first book of his I ever read was a collection of short stories called The Fat Man In History. He also wrote Oscar And Lucinda — a beautiful story — which was turned into a film that I made. In Kelly Gang, the narrative voice is so unique. We Australians all know that outlaw Ned Kelly was hung after the famous shoot-out in 1880. But what Carey does is get inside his character's mind in such an illuminating and heartrending way. And there's not a trace of sentimentality in it. I so admire that as an actor, because I realize how difficult it is to do."

Prison Songs (Historical Recordings From Parchman Farm 1947-48) by Alan Lomax

Album Favorite

"Alan Lomax was a folklorist and ethnomusicologist who was making archival recordings and field recordings in the 40s, and this album consists mainly of prison chain gang songs. The first time I heard it, it stopped me in my tracks - it was incredibly moving to hear because it's just the sound of male voices and pickaxes and nothing else... it sounds haunted but hopeful. Like listening to ghosts, the quality of the singing and the recording [is such] that you can never have again - a document of its time. It's spiritual: the pain is in their singing, which would have been their only mode of expression. It's singular and not something I'd put on everyday, being a heavy listen."

Tombstone- is a excellent fim. The action, the drama, the suspense, the thrills and the cast are all excellent.

The plot: Wyatt Earp (Kurt Russell) and his brothers, Morgan (Bill Paxton) and Virgil (Sam Elliott), have left their gunslinger ways behind them to settle down and start a business in the town of Tombstone, Ariz. While they aren't looking to find trouble, trouble soon finds them when they become targets of the ruthless Cowboy gang. Now, together with Wyatt's best friend, Doc Holliday (Val Kilmer), the brothers pick up their guns once more to restore order to a lawless land.

Its a excellent film and highly recordmend.
