Cult thriller from Kathryn Bigelow: the film that persuaded the world that Keanu Reeves could be an action hero and Patrick Swayze could act. Clean-cut FBI agent Johnny Utah (like that's a real name) goes undercover in the world of surfing to catch a group of elite bank robbers, but finds his resolution tested by his growing attraction to one of them (and his ex-girlfriend).

A solid thriller is elevated to the level of something special by Bigelow's superb direction (banging action and extreme-sports sequences), plus genuine depth of character. Keanu still looks sort of bovine in places, though showing genuine signs of improvement, while Swayze is something of a revelation as an ambiguous spiritual guru/gang leader. Lori Petty is also good, but mostly decorative and underused. All the more impressive when you realise it has basically the same plot as The Fast and the Furious but still feels like a proper movie for grown-ups.

I enjoyed this.

It was different; set in Australia and centred around one ex-biker gang guy trying to go it straight in the small town of Sugartown

I liked Elijah. He was hot and so sweet with Ana and Sammy. He tried to resist her for her own good but in the end he couldn't do it and it made me smile because I think they make quite a cute couple.

As for Ana, she was so strong willed and, I was behind her 100% of the book in regards to seducing Elijah, it broke my heart a little with what happened to her, though. Poor thing. Elijah got a bit of justice for her, which sent him even higher up my list of favourite things in this book.

It has a different plotline to most NA, so if you're getting bored of reading the same sort of storylines, you should check this out!

I could not really pick one protagonist in this novel, this story is told from multiple perspectives, unpicking many lives. We do kind of have these two “camps” here. The first one would be Elisabeth, Joyce, Ibrahim and Ron, and the second one would be the police officers working on the case: Donna and Chris. I really loved how the characters were developed throughout the pages. Elisabeth seems so strong and she is leading the investigate gang, but really she is worried and scared because of her frail husband. Joyce has a difficult relationship with her daughter and a very strange love life going on. Donna feels like she failed in life by moving to this God’s forgotten town, and Chris is lonely, getting fat and unhappy. We not only get to know our leading characters but the ones that got killed as well. All the characters are beautiful, amusing and absorbing personalities, and I was so happy to meet them.

Broken Beasts ( Xoe Meyers book 3)
By Sara C. Roethle

Xoe had hoped that after the events of the last few months, things would finally slow down. No such luck. The werewolves are out for blood, and so are the vampires apparently. Let's not even get started on the problems her own friends are causing. Regardless of the danger, Xoe and her rag-tag entourage are in Moab, facing the werewolf coalition. Their final ruling will change Xoe's fate, and the fate of her friends forever.

Here's hoping that's a good thing.
I got the first 3 books in a set and I have to say I’ve really enjoyed them! They are the new Scooby gang a mismatch of supernatural friends! This one was a bit of a slow burner but still kept the story going! I’m looking forward to more demon action as you don’t get it as much as the usual vampire and werewolves! A good start to a decent series!

3.5 stars.

I've always liked playing games on the various platforms, some I was better at than others, some I enjoyed more than others, so the chance to read a romance between two gamers was quite fun.

The references they bandied about were fun at times and at others I had no ideas what they were talking about so maybe I'm not as big a geek as this gang of friends. But the banter was fun nonetheless.

I liked the romance aspect, how it sort of grew slowly and then because they weren't used to being in a relationship, they didn't know what they were to each other: friends, boyfriend/girlfriend...they figured it out after a while though.

The side story--or maybe it was the main story--of the game, didn't interest me as much but when it got to its ending, I thought the outcome was quite funny. All that work...lol.
