Another Fantastic book by L.E. Sterling. Well written with a great plot and characters. I was engrossed from start to finish. On the eve of Lucy and Margot's reveal, Lasters attack her home and Lucy is forced to run. Margot's has gone missing, Lucy is living with True Born Nolan Storm, unorthodox magic has been set loose upon the land, and Lucy is all mixed up when it comes to her fierce protector, Jared True Born Price.
Even though Lucy is upset about her circumstances, she still helps Storm navigate the Upper Circle. Wanting nothing more than to find her sister, Lucy finally makes some choices of her own. She tries to get help with where he sister might have been taken by a child in a kid gang. The child sets her up and it doesn't look good, but she is saved by Alistair. They wind up friends and he helps her try and find Margot. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Netgalley.

Star Trek IV - The Voyage Home (1986)
Star Trek IV - The Voyage Home (1986)
1986 | Action, Comedy, Sci-Fi
Fourth big-screen Trek dodges the usual 'all SF blockbusters must be action movies' pitfall and opts for some gentle social comedy instead. Alien probe is outraged by the extinction of Earth's whales and decides to wipe out civilisation; Kirk and the gang have to travel back to 1980s San Francisco to recruit some substitute cetaceans and save the day. Very possibly riding on the coat-tails of Back to the Future, but also Nick Meyer's Time After Time (Meyer wrote the middle section of the film).

Solidly structured and engagingly played: the actors know their characters backward and it's a pleasure to spend time with them. Interesting to speculate about the original version of the film, which would have co-starred Eddie Murphy (Paramount nixed the idea). Doing a lighter Trek works well here, but led to the studio insisting on comedy bits being added to future films in the series, which was arguably a big mistake. Doesn't detract from the entertainment value of Star Trek in one of its magisterial phases.

Flaming Birds
Mission: impossible II- this is a strange sequel, on one hand its good, on the other its bad. So lets call it in the middle, good but bad. Tom Cruise and Ving Rhames both return. I like how each movie is directed by a different director. The first one was Brain De Palma so his take was putting spy, suspense and thrills in the first one. In this one John Woo directs it. That means alot of slow-mo, birds, and that pretty much it.

The plot: Tom Cruise returns to his role as Ethan Hunt in the second installment of "Mission: Impossible." This time Ethan Hunt leads his IMF team on a mission to capture a deadly German virus before it is released by terrorists. His mission is made impossible due to the fact that he is not the only person after samples of the disease. He must also contest with a gang of international terrorists headed by a turned bad former IMF agent who has already managed to steal the cure.

Its good, but the first one was better.

Jumanji: The Next Level (2019)
Jumanji: The Next Level (2019)
2019 | Action, Adventure, Comedy
More of The Rock in a jungle.
412. Jumanji: The Next Level. There's actors out there that say they will never do sequels. And there's the ones that do nothing but. Dwayne Johnson, is back, again, in another sequel to Jumanji. This time around, one of the gang, Spencer is depressed and goes back home on school break and disappears into the game, when the rest of em all come looking for him, they get sucked into the game, but this time, there's old people!! Danny DeVito and 'I'm too old for this shit' Danny Glover play old people in this that also get sucked into the game. There's really no logic behind any of this. They become The Rock and Kevin Hart and they say all the old person in young body jokes that you've seen in the trailers, don't worry they are all there. They set off on a safe, family friendly adventure to find Spencer, which leads to a rather boring and predictable ending. Filmbufftim on FB
