Basically about Churchill becoming Prime Minister, against his own cabinet and king's wishes, and dealing with his own Darkest Hour.

I was gobsmacked at Gary Oldman's performance. By the time we got to the "we will fight them on the beaches" speech, I was a wet rag!

Beautiful cinematography and music. Cast was awesome, would watch again (and again!!)

Get Off My Plane
Air Force One- is a excellent movie, with suspense, action, thrills and drama.

The plot: After making a speech in Moscow vowing to never negotiate with terrorists, President James Marshall (Harrison Ford) boards Air Force One with his family (Wendy Crewson, Liesel Matthews) and advisers. When a group of terrorists led by Ivan Korshunov (Gary Oldman) hijacks the flight, the President's principles are put to the test. Feigning escape, ex-solider Marshall stows away in the aircraft and must race against time to rescue his family and everyone else on board.

Gary Oldman is a excellent, phenomenal and great villian. He plays good villians, he is a excellent actor.

I love this movie, such a action packed film.

I can seriously recommend The Return by Hisham Matar and Another Day in the Death of America by Gary Younge. A great mixed bag of non-fiction literature in this year's Orwell Prize longlist.

The Orwell Prize is Britain’s most prestigious prize for political writing. Here is the 2017 longlist:

Fascinating story
Powerful
A very interesting film about Churchill during the Darkest hour. He was hastedly put in place as prime minister, had a King who doubted him and his own war cabinet wanted to explore peace talks as the Germans advance on Dunkirk.
Gary Oldman will surely win the best Actor award at the Oscars for his amazing performance. This peek behind the scenes in the war rooms and Churchill in general at such an important point in the war is fascinating.

"Any film that propelled Gary Oldman to stardom is an important film, as I believe Oldman is the greatest film actor of his generation. The lives of the waifish/shrewish Nancy Spungeon and enfant terrible Sid Vicious make for a tough haul and present a somewhat jaundiced vision of the seventies punk scene. However, Sid and Nancy features director Alex Cox at the peak of his talent, cinematography by the great Roger Deakins, and a wonderful, damaged kookiness from Chloe Webb. But it’s the preternaturally gifted Gary Oldman you can’t take your eyes off of."
