Bostonian916 (449 KP) rated Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019) in Movies

Story is pretty average fair for the franchise. Taking two of the most popular actors and giving them their own offshoot ended up working just fine.
A lot of the action scenes (island scenes in particular) are SO absolutely unreal that you are required to completely suspend reality for much of the duration. There's nothing wrong with that (I mean, racing a submarine as it breaks through the ice coming toward you had to be topped?) as long as that's what you're looking for.
As with the entire franchise, it's a mood movie. Not earth shattering, but still a good time if you allow it to be. If you're the type to nitpick plot holes and storyboard gaps, avoid.

I cannot remember the last movie, if any, had me as anxious as the first act of Waves. And if you're lucky enough to have tge opportunity to do so, after the emotional final act you will find yourself giving your closest loved ones a long hug.

Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Bloodshot (Cheshire Red Reports, #1) in Books

However this still managed to grab my attention, which is why I've persevered instead of giving up.
Admittedly my interest only grew enough for me to not want to put it down once Adrian was introduced around the half-way mark. The fact that Raylene had someone to interact with other than herself and phone-calls with contacts every so often was a big plus for me. I needed to read her bonding with someone because she came across as a bit heartless at times.
Although I liked this, I don't think I'm going to read the second book in the series despite having it in paperback. Not really my sort of thing.
