Ugh ANOTHER action movie
Contains spoilers, click to show
Had some twists but overall another action film. The typical good cop/bad cop.
The ending Also made no sense, guy was having a meeting about the fact he was a 'trigger' (a cop that shot people too often) yet he killed so many other cops at the end and just walks away? Sooooo unrealistic. The premise of closing down the island was good but the way it's mentioned is like its common practice, I mean, surely shutting down the island would be something thats completely ridiculous and take more than 2 minutes to be decided?
They were given a time limit that in the end made no difference, why bother giving them one when nothing happens when it's not abided by?
The bad guy dies way to easily .(not that im a masochist LOL just that after all he does, he dies essentially from a really easy wound)

***I received a copy off NetGalley in exchange for an honest review***
3.5 stars.
I enjoyed this but we seemed to just jump into the story without any real explanation. I found myself baffled at the beginning; we just start with a fight out of nowhere and I if I'm honest it started a little strange...
I continued to be baffled until we got to the school, that was when it started to pick up for me and I got quite into the story. I enjoyed the mystery of trying to figure out who was behind the disappearances and wondered if Scar had had anything to do with it during her "visions" but no...though I wont ruin it by giving it away.
I did enjoy it, though. It was different and I like different every so often. If you're into young adult stories with a bit of mystery and intrigue then you will probably love this.

If you enjoy an extremely slow brewed drama then great, this is for you.
Government conspiracies, and 'old school' espionage never looked so dull to me though! This film didn't require action and bullets flying but a little more suspense and mystery wouldn't have hurt.
I can't say a lot happens in this film, but I am sure there is an audience that will get behind the intrigue, and the discussions that this films brings up. It is a thoughtful and intelligent piece, with a painfully A-List British cast (apologies to those that aren't, and sorry for generalising) giving some outstanding performances.
An excellent film for those that enjoy this style but unfortunately not for me.
There are two sequels that follow some of the same characters, if you did enjoy this then look out for:
Turks and Caicos
Salting the Battlefield
From what I have heard they are marginally better.

So what is the truth?
If you like unreliable narrators, then this is the book for you. The Truth is in fact questionable - not the book, the narrators version of events. What can I say without giving the game away? Well, no one in this novel is someone that you’d want to know, they all do immoral, unpleasant things, and I enjoyed it 🤷🏼♀️
I do like an unlikeable main character, and even though when I was reading this, I was telling myself that I should give her a chance, and that circumstances had made her the way she was, I still found her thoroughly unfriendly and rude.
The last third of the novel was particularly good, and really made the book for me. Everything is explained, and it was utterly fascinating: the fact that this is based on a true story blew my mind!
Many thanks to The Pigeonhole and Naomi Joy for reading along.

Set in the Holy Land in the first century C.E., a young woman leaves her small fishing village and traditional family behind to join a radical new social movement. At its head is a charismatic leader, Jesus of Nazareth, who promises that the world is changing.
I don't know what I was expecting from Mary Magdalene to be honest with you. It chugged along at a pace and the two hours I was in the cinema didn't feel that long... but at the same time I was particularly entertained by any of it.
Yet another movie being chastised online for not being accurate... it is a movie... not a documentary... get a grip. I'm giving this one star because you can't deny how stunning the settings are. But the rest left me a little underwhelmed. I personally wouldn't have recommended that Jesus be played as if he was stoned... but each to their own I guess.
