I do like an unlikeable main character, and even though when I was reading this, I was telling myself that I should give her a chance, and that circumstances had made her the way she was, I still found her thoroughly unfriendly and rude.
The last third of the novel was particularly good, and really made the book for me. Everything is explained, and it was utterly fascinating: the fact that this is based on a true story blew my mind!
Many thanks to The Pigeonhole and Naomi Joy for reading along.
Emma @ The Movies (1786 KP) rated Mary Magdalene (2018) in Movies

I don't know what I was expecting from Mary Magdalene to be honest with you. It chugged along at a pace and the two hours I was in the cinema didn't feel that long... but at the same time I was particularly entertained by any of it.
Yet another movie being chastised online for not being accurate... it is a movie... not a documentary... get a grip. I'm giving this one star because you can't deny how stunning the settings are. But the rest left me a little underwhelmed. I personally wouldn't have recommended that Jesus be played as if he was stoned... but each to their own I guess.

Hmm...well this started very slow and made me more aware of the fact that I'm not a fan of books that take place in mental hospitals/institutes.
It took a long time to get anywhere and I was on the verge of giving up when Faraday appeared and I started to get excited, thinking the story would pick up and get on with it. Unfortunately, we stayed in the mental hospital for another good portion of the book and we went through what synesthesia is, which I admit is very interesting, but didn't give much away with the plotline and where it was going. It was about 150 pages from the end when it started getting good and from there I more or less devoured it, only for it to turn rather sci-fi-y. I like sci-fi sometimes but not in this. I kinda felt let down.
I don't think I'll be reading the next book in the series.
Sam (228 KP) rated The Sinner - Season 1 in TV

However, I could not look away for a single moment during this show. The twists and backstorys that unfold are not only thrilling but sends shivers down my spine. The whole show I found myself at the edge of my seat as it takes you deeper and deeper into the mind and past of this single character. I find myself almost adoring the way it would send shivers down my spine and raise goosebumps along my arm. For anyone who enjoys a psychological thriller and are looking for a TV show that can actually hit the mark, I reccomended giving this show a try.
