What would your life be like if you were born somewhere else, *someone* else? How much of our lives is predetermined exclusively on such random variables beyond our control, things that we've all imagined changing at one point or another? Just to be upfront, one of my absolute least favorite plots in movies is switching bodies - the plot tends to just halt entirely to provide such rote "lol person does thing they don't usually do lol" or "uh oh... I'm another gender!" jokes before it actually decides to do anything. But between this and 2020's Freaky I'm glad to see they've finally started putting some nuance into these things. Honestly one of the greatest movies I've ever seen - probably the most bracingly beautiful animated movie ever conceived and it's just as impactful narratively. Tackles layers of regressive gender roles, the cruel indiscriminate randomness within human existence, the tumultuousness of adolescence, and along with Shyamalan's 𝘜𝘯𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 handles the concept of fate/destiny better than any other film I've seen. That and it's also just so damn hilarious. I initially thought the conclusion was maybe about 10 minutes too long, but afterwards I thought perhaps that was the point - in further distancing it from its preceding events, giving legitimacy to its setting. After a string of disappointments made me remember why I even love movies in the first place.

BRIDGING HOPE is the first novella in the Bridging Hearts series. We start with Pierce - a workaholic who has ended up in the last place he ever expected... his childhood home. It doesn't hold any happy memories as he was physically abused by his father. When his sister dies though, he steps up to the mark for his niece and nephew. The complication arises when his sister puts Dalton, an ex-boyfriend, down as guardian for them though. Can the two of them work together for the sake of the children?
For a shorter-length story, this one packs a punch. The world- and character-building are clear and concise, giving plenty of details about the farm, the children, and the MCs. Pierce gets his priorities mixed up at one point, but this just makes him more realistic. I loved how Dalton was the steady one, who had dreams but wasn't afraid to either put them on hold for the sake of the children or make it work around them.
A great story that I enjoyed and have no hesitation in recommending.

For a shorter-length story, this one packs a punch. The world- and character-building are clear and concise, giving plenty of details about the farm, the children, and the MCs. Pierce gets his priorities mixed up at one point, but this just makes him more realistic. I loved how Dalton was the steady one, who had dreams but wasn't afraid to either put them on hold for the sake of the children or make it work around them.
A great story that I enjoyed and have no hesitation in recommending.

And they've never been very good at staying silent.
I honestly don’t know why I’m surprised at how much I loved this book but I am I was hovering between 4 & 4.5 stars until those last chapters. Especially with the surprise guest at the end!!!! Word of advice do not read the 3rd crescent city book until you’ve finished ACOTAR I wasn’t expecting the character that showed up. This author really is something special. My favourite part of this book was Bryce giving her dad the big two fingers, I can’t reveal much as this whole book is one big spoiler and hard to review.

Spring Brings Another Murder to Rudolph
Spring in Rudolph, New York, American’s Christmas town, is usually a little show, which means it is the perfect time for Merry Wilkinson’s friends Vicki and Mark to plan their wedding. They’ve even managed to buy the Cole House to move into, but only because it needs a lot of work. However, things aren’t going well at the house since the couple are hearing strange noises in the night. Then, when Merry is visiting, the trio find a dead body. With Mark under suspicion, Merry starts gathering clues. Can she figure out what happened?
Normally, I enjoy this series, but this entry didn’t work for me. The story was too slow to get going. While things did pick up once we found the body, including giving us some great suspects, it wasn’t satisfying. Having said that, my questions were answered at the end. Since this is set in spring, it didn’t have quite the usual Christmas cheer, but I think that’s on me more than anything. The series regulars were still fantastic, and I did enjoy getting to see them again. And we got three recipes that Vicki has been working on for her cookbook. Fans of the series will be happy to check in on the characters, but everyone else can pass this one by.
