A LITTLE CHRISTMAS: SAWYER is a homage to one of the ultimate Christmas movies - Die Hard! In it, we have Sawyer and Holly, two littles who spend most of their time without their Daddies. Holly doesn't have a permanent one yet, and Sawyer's is a marine, so not with him most of the time. That's all well and good until a family with a grievance take everyone at the Christmas party hostage.
This is definitely one of the more action-packed Little Christmases and, to be plain, it felt as though a little of the connection between the MC's was lost in the action. It is also heavier on the BDSM side than the others I have read. Whilst a thrilling read, it appears the caring/nurturing Daddies are the ones that tick more of the boxes for me. The pacing and the story arc were smooth, giving you time to get to know the supporting characters and what role they play.
This was still a great story and a wonderful addition to the series. I have no hesitation in recommending it.

This is definitely one of the more action-packed Little Christmases and, to be plain, it felt as though a little of the connection between the MC's was lost in the action. It is also heavier on the BDSM side than the others I have read. Whilst a thrilling read, it appears the caring/nurturing Daddies are the ones that tick more of the boxes for me. The pacing and the story arc were smooth, giving you time to get to know the supporting characters and what role they play.
This was still a great story and a wonderful addition to the series. I have no hesitation in recommending it.

WILD BOY is the second novella in the Gay Monsters in Space series, but it can be read as a standalone.
Connor has had a rough life up until now and trusts nobody. He doesn't see any reason to change that once he gets kidnapped by Krel and told how wonderful everything is going to be from now on. Krel knows all about Connor's past, but he knows Connor is the one for him. He'll just have to show Connor just how much he loves him!
Okay, so if you don't like spankings, you may not like this story. Connors needs them - a lot! And Krel, well, he likes giving them to Connor because it normally leads to other things. Things that are hot and spicy and pleasurable to both parties.
I am thoroughly enjoying this series. The stories are off the charts hot, with great characters, and you don't have to worry about how deep the story is going. Sometimes, that's just what you need!
A great addition to the series and absolutely recommended by me.

THE QUID PRO QUO is the second book in the Bradfield Trilogy although you could, as I have, read it as a standalone.
It is set in 1920s England where magic comes alive in a not-so-fun way. Walt is the nurse to Sylvia's doctor, and the story starts with them being called to the village duck pond as a body has been found. The mystery unravels as the story progresses, giving you insight into a world 'other' than our own.
This is paced perfectly for a cosy mystery - with questions aplenty until it is all explained nicely and wrapped in a bow. I really want to read books one and three now (even though book three isn't even available yet) just to see where it takes me. The characters are wonderfully relatable and the world is both realistic and nostalgic in a rose-tinted glasses kind of way.
The story and characters held my attention from the beginning and kept me enthralled until the end. Thoroughly enjoyable and absolutely recommended by me.

THE LAST FAMILIES is a post-apocalyptic fantasy in which the earth has been destroyed and those surviving have left by boat to reach a safe place. Unknown to them, they go through a wormhole and end up on a different planet, one with unknown dangers to them.
This story is told from multiple perspectives, giving the reader a well-rounded view of what's happening. It moves at a fast pace so prepare yourself. I found I needed to concentrate on the story as otherwise, something would happen that I might miss which affected the whole timeline.
I'm not sure if this is the first book in a series as there seem to be questions left unanswered and open-ended storylines. However, saying that, this was a great read about their time in Gambir and the people who lived there.
There are some errors where the wrong word is used (but correctly spelt) but this didn't have too great an impact on my enjoyment.

Will Helping a House Guest Hurt Alyssa?
Alyssa Macallan’s life is turned upside down when her husband walks out of their house one day. Facing a divorce she never expected, she finds herself drinking at a bar one Friday night, where she meets Bree Lorrance, who is also down on her luck. The two hit it off, and Alyssa invites Bree to move into her guest house. Helping Bree lets Alyssa forget her own problems, until her own problems heat back up. Will the two be able to help each other? Or do they have secret agendas?
I was hooked early on, although the book does take a little while to build up to the full plot. Once it does, I couldn’t wait to see how things would resolve for the characters. I appreciated the fact that no one seemed overly whiney here, although they could have repeated things less, giving the book more time to flesh out some of the late breaking twists. While knowing I couldn’t fully trust Alyssa and Bree, I really did like them both and hoped things would work out well for them. We get the book completely from Alyssa’s third person point of view which makes us question just what anyone else was thinking. Even with the pacing issues with the plot, I enjoyed this book overall.

SHE'S THE ONE WHO CARES TOO MUCH is the second book in the War Stories of the Seven Troublesome Sisters series and we are shown the story from Coral's perspective.
She is the second sister, the one who likes being a teacher and a mother, but then she finds she has a special ability that is both feared and not as all-powerful as first thought. We follow her through her own trials and tribulations as she finds her place in the world, where she thinks of her wishes and dreams, never knowing if they will survive the war to come true.
This book is very different from the first, as it should be. I loved seeing the same events happening through Coral's eyes, giving me a much fuller idea of what was happening.
There are characters I loved, and others I really wasn't sorry to see the back of! I honestly can't wait to read Sulphur's story, which comes next. The ending still felt abrupt, but I was ready for it this time. Now, it just leaves me wanting more. Absolutely recommended by me.

THE OSTIN PRINCE is the second book in the Isle of Ostin series. Theo and Pax just want to be left alone, but the press has other ideas. During a skirmish, Theo and Pax are rescued by none other than the cousin Theo used to play with, Arbor. Zeke, who has been staying with Theo and Pax, finds himself entranced by this no-filter Ostin, who thinks he is darkness personified, when all Zeke can see is his light.
The overall story arc moves along nicely in Arbor and Zeke's story, whilst still giving the reader the full enjoyment of their story. Both Zeke and Arbor see themselves one way, but the other sees them completely differently. It was nice seeing a softer side to Arbor, as he is usually the one who runs his mouth off - for comedic effect at times.
The Ostins so far all have a protector side that comes into full force when it involves the ones they care about. I loved seeing this.
A great addition to the series and I look forward to the next book!

Both Zeke and Arbor see themselves one way, but the other sees them completely differently. It was nice seeing a softer side to Arbor, as he is usually the one who runs his mouth off - for comedic effect at times.
The Ostins so far all have a protector side that comes into full force when it involves the ones they care about. I loved seeing this.
A great addition to the series and I look forward to the next book!

Well, that was definitely a ride on the crazy train!
Millie is not in a good place when she applies for the position as a housekeeper/maid at the beautiful home of the affluent Andrew and Nina Winchester and their daughter Cecilia. Against the odds, she gets the position and, as is usually the case, things are too good to be true and all is not what it seems.
I can't really say much without giving the game away but I will say that I found it riveting and intriguing and I didn't really know who or what to believe or how everything was going to play out. It was great and exceeded my expectations and whilst I found it a little unbelievable, it was extremely entertaining and I was hooked nevertheless.
I listened to the audiobook and although I think it would have worked better with 2 distinct voices for Millie and Nina, I think the narrator did a fantastic job.
I haven't read or listened to any of Freida's books before but this definitely won't be my last and she will be an author I will look out for in the future and I must thank Bookouture and NetGalley for introducing me to her books, for allowing me to listen to this one and share my thoughts.

Clover Hill is a wonderful place to be!
WINNING MOVE is the first book in the Clover Hill Romance series and we are introduced to a queer-friendly small town. Gina retreated back there when her divorce came through and she's happy with her life. She isn't interested in dating or having a partner. Her life is shaken up when she rescues Marek from the side of the road. He is everything she likes but doesn't want.
Told from both perspectives, it is Gina in the driving seat. Marek knows what he wants but respects Gina's decision. I loved the back and forth between the two of them, the easy camaraderie tinged with heat.
The pace is smooth and the story flows, giving a little suspense regarding Gina's niece in amongst the low-angst relationship drama. The conversations all seem natural and easy, whether it's between Gina and Marek or any of the other characters.
This was a great little story and I can't wait to return to Clover Hill and see what happens next. Definitely recommended by me.

This is one of those books that you pick up and, even though you have read the synopsis, you're still not sure exactly what it is you've let yourself in for.
What I got is a book that I completely immersed myself in. I was lost within Renny's world of school, flying carpets, and first love. I loved the dream meetings she had with Parnell, as well as the Kettle meetings. These characters have a wide range of ages, and as such, it is a well-rounded group that you read about. The struggles that Renny faces are real, but she still manages to find time for love. And let's face it, what 17-year-old girl wouldn't do the same?
However, Flight of the Wren is not all sweetness and light. There is a 'big bad' in the shape of Mistral, an old apprentice of Parnell's. With kidnap, violence, friendship, loyalty, and more, this is one eventful book that will tug at your heartstrings, whilst giving you a thrilling ride. I absolutely loved this book, and can't wait to read Spark. Highly recommended.
