As with most of this series, The Sandman continues where Delirium finished. It is difficult to write a review without giving any of the story away so you'll just have to trust me when I say that this series is getting darker. Maisie and Steve have big roles to play but so do most of the others characters. They all get their fair share of 'story time' in this book. One thing I will say while giving away no spoilers, is be prepared to have your heartstrings pulled!

The action and excitement is pretty much non-stop and doublespeak is rife. Just who can be trusted, who can't, who is human, who isn't is all up in the air and you won't know as you read along. Absolutely excellent wordsmithing.

As with all in this series, highly recommended!

Creep factor (0 more)
While this is by no means a new take on the found footage genre, it did introduce me to the haunted house scene. I didn't realize that there are people out there that will try to go to as many set-up haunted houses as possible. This group's search for the truly terrifying is their downfall.
There are some truly creepy moments that were done really well.
There's a sequel in the works and I plan on giving it a view.

Emotional- quite heavy subject matter
Quick yet emotional read
I love this book - brought it then finished it in the car ride home. Very heavy subject matter but dealt with in a skillful and thought evoking way. I cried a lot- still do when i tell friends what its about. It has a picture book type appeal but i suggest you give it a read before giving it to anyone young due to the subject matter it deals with.

A long episode of X-Files
For those who are Sci-fi fans, this is a bit of a dream. It's intelligent, compiled completely through a series of 'classified' interviews with a mysterious authoritative person with no name. While the concept is a bit unoriginal and slightly lame, it's written in a militaristic tone giving a sense of realism. There is a big twist at the end that sets up the premise for the next book. Interesting - but not much else.

I have and will always hate ABBA
I was brought up on music pre-90s and my parents listened to a lot.... And I mean a lot of Disco but no matter how fun and catchy ABBA's music tends to be to most people there is just something about their music that is just nails on a chalkboard to me and even after giving them another try not that I'm older I still just hate their music so damn much.

Reading this book is fine until you remember the girl you're reading talk about sleeping with her father, doing drugs, being trained to be a prostitute after kidnapping until you remember this girl is meant to be 10 years old, only 14 by the end of it. I find it horrible to think of a girl in this position, be it at any age, let alone a child going through these vulgar acts and giving her takes on them.

A modern day 'In Cold Blood'
This is a pretty incredibly written book about a real life murder investigation coinciding with the author's own harrowing experiences. While true crime is now a hot genre, Alexandria Marzano-Lesnevich has weaved together a humane story, a backdrop of how this horrifying crime occurred not dissimilar to how Truman Capote wrote In Cold Blood. However, her own horrific story parallels the investigation giving the entire novel a whole new dimension. Recommended read indeed.

this is one of my favourite authors, I was really excited to receive this ARC. the author is brilliant at giving you complexed characters in a fantastic story line. the story enfolds beautifully and leaves you wanting more, roll on book 2. this book has a cliff hanger ending which will defiantly keep you wanting more. I love how there are still lots of secrets to unfolds in the next books.

This is the forth book in this series by this author. What an amazing read, the prologue had me hooked. This author has a fab way of giving so much depth to there characters. This book is full of emotions but also fun and sexy as well. The characters have very intense and hot chemistry between them. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.
