Hilarious And Beautifully Illustrated
This is a wonderful way to teach children about idioms. Every page has an idiom not only listed but also beautifully illustrated and giving its literal meaning. The illustrations are hilarious and sweet, especially as they all feature birds or animals. My favourites were ‘Bring home the bacon,’ ‘No spring chicken’ and ‘Let the cat out of the bag.’
The meaning of the idiom, along with an example of its usage in a sentence, is written at the bottom of each page, inverted, and in minute lettering, so that it can be referred to only when you really try to read it. Unfortunately, the writing was so small that I had problems reading it at all.
“Birds Of A Feather” concludes with an explanation of how a particular idiom originated, and encourages readers to find the origins of other idioms, as the words that are used in an idiom are generally not meant literally, however, neither are they a random group of words thrown together.

As far as style goes, Spencer has a beautiful and easy style that seems to seep into her mind like a daydream. It's so easy to read through her works, that you are over before you even realize you have begun. Her characters are solid and real, the type of people you can imagine walking out onto your front porch and seeing no matter where you are from.
I loved the humor and realness that seemed to come naturally to this story. I found myself laugh just as often as I found myself cringing in frustration at the stubbornness of the characters.
However, this novel was so boring, I had a hard time completely it. While the words flowed quickly from the pages, the story itself held no interests whatsoever. It felt like a peak into someone's diary of their everyday life or watching a lifetime movie. It was so true to life (minus the famous country star scenario), that it just didn't seem to have any appeal or magic.
I feel that giving it three stars may be to harsh, and yet at the same time, I cannot justify giving it more.

This wonderful adventure book. Are you looking a book that helps with educational help with you children. Well that draws your boys and girls. It has talks about the history of America during the Revolutionary War.
This is the second book of the series. It got the twin doing a mission for their father. It goes on from there. There seem to be a spy that following them and giving enemy the information. Who could it possibly be.
Ambrose and John seem to be thrown into a mission to make sure gunpowder get where it need to be. In the process they also need to drive the first submarine. They got to make a prison break to save their older brother.
The authors do great job with the story and also having you and all his readers guessing though out the book. Will they save their older brother? You giving the American information to enemy?
The pictures are done well and you can see what the author is talking about. The image are caping to see and look at. The author does a wonderful job with it.

This was the book I gave out for World Book Night 2014. I had not read it prior to giving it, but I had heard it was good.
It wasn't exactly good, but it wasn't awful either. Honestly nothing much happened. It simply tell the story of the Andreas family. They admittedly don't have a "typical" family, but they deal with very typical family issues... cancer, dishonesty, child-parent dynamics, etc. But unlike typical families serious conversations (& even not so serious ones) were dealt with in Shakespeare quotes.

Ok, I'm sorry, but I got REALLY tired of Cross's family constantly whining at him about how he had to work a hostage situation, and then a bomb situation, on Christmas. I mean, come ON already! Even his grandmother...how many years has he been doing this and they're all being so incredibly whiny and giving him guilt when he should be concentrating on the case(s). Obviously, this truly annoyed me. Aside from that, however, it was a good story, but I thought the ending felt a bit abrupt.
