Kate (355 KP) rated A Simple Favor (2018) in Movies
Feb 14, 2019
Bordering on very good and excellent. Started watching it and thought it would be similar to Girl on a Train but how wrong I was, can't really talk about the film without giving too much away but there are plenty of twists and different tangents going on. The film has been narrated as if it was a true story with a voice over at the beginning and what happened next at the end, haven't read the book but don't think it is is true. One final thing always look out for the quiet ones.

Wow! I just finished this and don't really know what to say. The relationship between Julian and Grace was perfectly done and I loved every second of this book! The only reason I'm not giving it a ten is that there were some things I thought could have been written better or elongated. Other than that, I absolutely loved reading this and can't wait to get to the others! Maybe when it's not so fresh I'll be able to think of some other things to write, but not right now. :P

This book was highly recommended to me and I tried to like it, I really truly did, but there was something about it, that just didn't work for me. I am not sure what it was, but it was not my favorite book and I am not sure that I liked any of it. I am giving it a 5 because it wasn't horrible, it just wasn't for me. I think it should be given the chance, but know that it may not be the book for you.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2206 KP) rated Death of a Trophy Wife (A Jaine Austen Mystery, #9) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Freelance writer Jaine Austen is trying to land The Mattress King as a new client when his much younger wife is murdered at a party she is giving. Considering she wasn't well liked, Jaine is surprised when her neighbor is accused of the crime. Can Jaine clear him? The mystery was a little too familiar here, but the jokes and crazy situations kept me turning pages in this fast read.

Feb 15, 2018
Hannah has some trouble accepting her past. Devlin also is struggle with his past. He also has to deal with his wife. Hannah as a secret she must tell Devin about. Hannah comes to help when Devin wife becomes ill after giving birth to their daughter.
This book is somewhat a tear emotions for just about what going to happen. Devlin still need to come to terms with his guilt and he need to step up when he told something. For there several surprises in this book I do not want to give them away.

Holy hell. I made myself read this slowly because I knew how much it would hurt. I was not disappointed. Cassandra Clare did an outstanding job in tearing my heart to shreads. Thank you for the pain. I can proudly say that I cried a lot because of this book. This was a beautiful end to a magnificent series. I am glad to have been a part of Clary and her friends' journeys. Thank you again, Cassandra Clare, for giving us readers such an amazing world to disappear into.
Erika (17788 KP) rated Gringo (2018) in Movies
Mar 15, 2018 (Updated Mar 15, 2018)
I didn't know if this movie was going to be completely terrible, or completely hilarious. It was mostly hilarious. For starters, the cast was stacked. I love Charlize Theron in everything, and her character was a boss, and my favorite scene in the movie is when she's giving herself a pep talk in the car. David Oyelowo was so funny as Harold and he was so charming. Joel Edgerton was the perfect d-bag. I completely forgot Sharlto Copley was in this movie until he showed up, and his character was one of my favorites.
Cyn Armistead (14 KP) rated The Atrocity Archives (Laundry Files, #1) in Books
Mar 1, 2018
I don't give many 5-star ratings, but The Atrocity Archives deserves one. You may need to read it with a web browser open to look up references using Wikipedia or Google, but if you enjoy Torchwood, Men in Black, or [b:Snow Crash|830|Snow Crash|Neal Stephenson|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1157396730s/830.jpg|493634], I think you'll enjoy this one.
The volume actually includes the novel and a novella, The Concrete Jungle. Both are good reading, and I recommend giving yourself time to enjoy the foreword and afterword, as well.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2206 KP) rated The Strange Case of Origami Yoda (Origami Yoda, #1) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Dwight is the weird kid in sixth grade until he creates an origami Yoda and starts giving out advice. The funny thing is, the advice seems to be good. Is it magic or just luck? The book is really a collection of short stories with a quick climax near the end. Many of them were heartwarming, but I wanted it to be building toward something long before it did.
