"It’s something of a gangster movie. I can’t say too much without giving away the plot, but it’s the best character development of any film I’ve ever seen. And, as with all of Paolo Sorrentino’s work, it keeps you guessing. His stuff is at once aesthetically beautiful and really cheerfully playful. He’s a very mischievous director, but he has an aching heart for romance which underpins everything. Sorrentino does these vast, beautiful things but manages to give it a heart and a warm personality – proclaiming the great beauty in things without it being a serious business for serious men."

I finished this about two hours ago on my break at work and wanted to scream because I didn't have the other volumes to finish the series.

I'd been wanting to read a book by this author for a while now after seeing all my Goodreads friends giving his books good rating so when I saw this free on Amazon I got a little giddy.

I wasn't sure at the start whether I'd like it but boy did I get drawn in quick! I really need to see what happens next with these two!

Off to check the price right now :-)

TV Show Favorite Watch

"The Twilight Zone. I had never watched it before, and it is so scary and so fantastic. My first advice would be to just go watch it (without) researching it, because the thrill of it is not knowing anything about the show, and then just watching it. It’s basically an anthology series where there’s a bunch of these weird stories, (in which) the world is just a little bit off. And it’s all these different, weird, crazy 30 minute episodes giving you portraits of the world in this science fiction scenario. At the same time, there’s always some crazy, fun twist."

My Man Jeeves is the first book I’ve read by P. G. Wodehouse, and I very much enjoyed it. They were very amusing stories, and there were lots of laugh out loud moments. They had a cartoonish quality to them, and it was as if the characters came from another world entirely - perhaps that’s just what it was like for the aristocracy at this time 🤷🏼‍♀️
I had avoided Wodehouse, thinking that he didn’t write ‘my kind of books’. How wrong I was!

Many thanks to The Pigeonhole for giving me the chance to read these short stories.

I'm actually giving this short story 4.5 stars, since I was a touch confused by the ending. Nevertheless, I have to say that this previously undiscovered short story is simply delightful, and thank you so much The New Yorker for publishing it (which you can find here http://bit.ly/2mLpQvP). This is Fitzgerald at his best and most cynical. He takes an untenable situation and finds the humor in it, while allowing the sadness to dissolve into the background, like the very last lingerings of a slightly unpleasant scent. This very quick read is highly recommended!
