This installment of the Dexter series was a disappointment. It veered off the tried & true Dexter story line into one of ancient gods. Really!? It took me a lot longer to slog through, but it wasn't bad enough to keep me from continuing with the series. Here's to hoping Linsey has something better up his sleeve for the next book.

Ugh, it was a bit too long for my liking and I'm not too into history, so the old gods and spirits of native american culture didn't particularly interest me. Also the fact that he pretty much betrayed her at the end didn't help the rating any either. I like my stories to have a happy-ish ending and this one kinda doesn't.

Gods, did I cry at the end of this!

A good ending to the series that has left it open for Seth to get his own series, which he has, and I'm glad that it worked out for pretty much everyone though I got upset at various bits when people died and all that but in the end it came together nicely.

"In my 30s when I taught college English, freshmen had to take a Great Books course, so I got to teach Oedipus and Aristotle — a real disconnect for Americans whose gods were Reason and Progress. For years I kept a black and white photo of a stone-carved head of blind Oedipus next to a photo of Ezra Pound just before his death."

It's hard to pick your favourite Discworld book.

It's hard even to pick your favourite that utilises a core set of characters.
If I was asked for my favourite Witches book, it would be a toss up between 'Lords and Ladies' and 'Maskerade'. My favourite stand-alone? Probably 'Small Gods'. My favourite Death? 'Soul Music'.

My favourite City Watch? Quite possibly this one.
