Willie Nelson - God's Problem Child (Official Audio)

It's fair to say that we've been spoiled by the cinematic gods this year. La La Land and Moonlight started 2017 with a bang, with The Disaster Artist and Call Me By Your Name bringing the year to a close. And we still have The Last Jedi to come!

But it's Jordan Peele's timely, unsettling satire Get Out that takes Empire's top spot this year.

Based on UK release dates, here are Empire's top ten films of the year:

Quite a complicated magic system to get your head round, but it isn't done to death (it is hinted at early but is only really used in earnest quite a lot later in the book). There are aspects of other parts of the cosmere hinted at here (the gods being similar to those in elantris, using material items for powers). A good standalone contribution to the universe.

A short and sweet book, but I would have been happy to read more! These are very human Gods: Thor seems rather challenged in the brain department, and Loki is the annoying child at the party (or anywhere!).
This is the complete opposite to the Marvel movies (neither a good or bad thing), and I feel it's more faithful to the original myths (go figure!). Thoroughly recommended!
