Amber Tucker (13 KP) rated Acheron (Dark-Hunter #14) in Books
Jan 9, 2018
One of the best books that I have ever read!!!
If you are not an avid reader the size of this book might dissuade you from even cracking it open, but dont let it. Acheron is part of The Dark Hunter Series. If youve read any of the other books in this series and had questions, this one answers them all. Tears, laughter, hate, anger, shock, love, and more tears. You will be familiar with all of these and much more. Unfortunately, I had to put the book down, even I couldnt finish it in one sitting...
Acherons tale is one that you wouldnt wish on your worst enemy. His story goes all the way back to his beginning. It tells of a mothers love and hate. A brothers love and hate. Gods and Goddesses, love and hate, lust, dominance, forgiveness, sorrow, all rolled into one book.

ArecRain (8 KP) rated DV8: Gods and Monsters in Books

What a fantastic series. It is a shame that more people don't know about it. As a sequel to the first DV8, the first thing I noticed about this comic is that the artwork is so much better than the first. In fact, I find it beautiful.
The story line is one of the best I have read in a long time. These eight people with powers are dropped onto a primitive planet where they are seen as gods. The story is told through Copy Cat, or Gem, who has the power to control people but also has split personalities. The story begins with her sitting in an interrogation cell. As she explains what happened to them after they were dropped on the planet, the art flashback to show what happened in the past.
Such an intriguing story that had me entranced from page one. I couldn't put it down. A must read for the comic fan looking for a different type of story.

Lindsay (1727 KP) rated The Winnowing Season (Amish Vines and Orchards, #2) in Books

I loved this book even more. It tell you more about Ronda Bayler. I love the fact that it tell us about her and she learn a lesson as well about a few things and what gods wants. Though does she know that she may be in love with some else but thinks it Jacob. We will have to see about that in the next book.
This book also goes in to depth about Jacob past as well. I do not know want to give way anything. I strongly you read this book if you have read "A Season for Tending". If you have not you can read this on first and then the that one. But that up to you.
In this book, you learn more about Ronda and her family a bit and also about Jacob and Samuel. There some fun things that happen and what they were learning about how to start a settlement in Maine. Do they learn about Friendship as well.

Lindsay (1727 KP) rated A Cousin's Promise (Indiana Cousins, #1) in Books
Feb 15, 2018 (Updated Sep 13, 2019)
A Cousin Promise is done well. I know I read this way before starting my book blog. I really did enjoy this. This book is about Loraine and Wayne. Will Loraine keep her promise? Though Wayne seem to have had accident and was left crippled.
Will Wayne see is way and hold on to his happiness? I really can not remember much it been that long ago. If I ever do re-read this book again I truly hope it as good as the first I read it. I do not see why it would not be.
I remember some of it story and plot. I know that it was written well. I did enjoy the story none the less. Will Wayne be able to get over his struggles and look to god and faith. Will Loraine be able to get over her rejection with gods help? What will happen once Loraine old boyfriends returns? Who will Loraine choose to love and marry?

Sarah (7799 KP) rated Gods Of Egypt (2016) in Movies

Entertainingly bad
Let's face it, you know a film with Gerard Butler in it is never going to be good. But at least with Gods of Egypt it's that bad it's vaguely entertaining.
It's take on Egyptian mythology is actually an interesting one and it's just a shame they decided to take some of it too far with over the top and pretty naff CGI. Gerard Butler hams it up and it's quite funny to listen to his accent constantly switching between English, Scottish and American. Nicolaj Coster-Waldau is a good actor but he's given absolutely nothing to work with here other than a terrible cheesy and stilted script. Brenton Thwaites isn't too bad either but he does seem to be playing a very similar character to that of the latest Pirates film.
This is one of those films you watch just to laugh at how bad it is. And fortunately for this, I've seen worse!

David McK (3496 KP) rated The Warlord of Mars (Barsoom, #3) in Books
Jan 30, 2019
Entry #3 in Edgar Ruce Burroughs <I>Barsoom</I> series, <I>The Warlord of Mars</I> follows on from the previous entry (<I>The Gods of Mars</I>), with John Carter counting down the days until the release of Dejah Thoris from the prison in which she was trapped at the end of that book. Of course, and quite early in this, she is released and captured by some of Carters enemies from that previous entry, tying the events of this directly into the events of that novel.
Unlike the previous entry (which started on Earth), the entirety of this novel takes place on Mars itself. It is also very much so a 'classic' boys own adventure story, full of numerous battles, a little bit of intrigue and some narrow escapes - as before, it is easy to see the influence this would have on later, perhaps better well known, stories by various authors.

Lee KM Pallatina (951 KP) rated Hercules (1997) in Movies

Zero to Hero
Contains spoilers, click to show
Disney's take on the Greek mythological Hero.
Hercules (Tate Donovan), son of Zeus, was kidnapped as a baby by minions of Hades (James Woods) and is found and raised by mortals in a superman-esque kinda way.
Now a teenager, Hercules wants to know about his real parents. Along the way he needs to perform a rite of passage on Earth to prove himself worthy of living with the gods on Mount Olympus and dealing with his first true love With help from his plucky satyr sidekick, Philoctetes (Danny DeVito), who's along for the ride, Hercules must learn how to use his strength to become the hero he's needed to be.
This movie is very light hearted and has an array of characters you can appreciate, many vibrant colours manage to draw you in, great dialogue and banter between characters with a meaningful story.
My personal favourite Disney animation.
