Alison Pink (7 KP) rated I Thought You Were Dead in Books
Jan 15, 2018
This was a book I won on a goodreads giveaway. I LOVED THIS BOOK!! The 2 main characters, Paul & his dog Stella are perfectly flawed. I went through every emotion in the course of reading this book...I laughed, cried, thought, & enjoyed every moment of it. Stella is a wise & loyal dog to the very end. Being a "dog person" myself I could totally relate to the owner talking to dog aspect of this book. I've spent lots of time wondering what my dog would say back to me if he could. I think this books give me the perfect answers.

I was so lucky to have received an advanced copy through a Goodreads giveaway-thank you!!
I've read all of Lisa Scottoline's books and I can say she did NOT disappoint in this one!! I loved it!
Had I not had a needy 1 year old I would have finished it in a couple of days but alas I had to read at night...Moms yall can relate! :-)
The best thing is that she allows your imagination to run wild with "who did its" and so forth and when you think you have figured it out she still shocks you. Awesome book!!

Deborah (162 KP) rated Resort to Murder in Books
Dec 19, 2018
Second of a series set (so far) in the late 1950s in coastal Devon. Main protagonist is a female reporter for a local newspaper but has a past life in wartime naval intelligence.
I read the first book in the series a couple of weeks back and this one I received via Goodreads.
I enjoyed both stories, but I didn't think they were really great either in the way they were written or in the construction of the mystery plot. They were enjoyable enough books, but not quite so good that I want to hang on to them to read again.

J Elizabeth Klug (21 KP) rated Animal Circus in Books
Dec 14, 2019
I received a free copy of the book through the Goodreads Giveaways program and voluntarily chose to review.
For the animals of Doe's Circus, life is hard. At the mercy of the ringmaster and his tyrannical gang of showmen, the petting zoo animals long to escape.
Written from the perspective of the animals, the story takes you through how they react to the abuse they suffer, their determination to survive, and their plan to escape.
With superb characterization, the story is well written. It's dark and suspenseful with a surprise ending that left somewhat disappointed and slightly traumatized.

I don't have the first 2 reviews, but I do have the review for the third book. Oh... and the rating is just the average of all 3 books.

Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Dark Soul Vol. 1 (Dark Soul, #1) in Books
Jan 6, 2021
I finished this about two hours ago on my break at work and wanted to scream because I didn't have the other volumes to finish the series.
I'd been wanting to read a book by this author for a while now after seeing all my Goodreads friends giving his books good rating so when I saw this free on Amazon I got a little giddy.
I wasn't sure at the start whether I'd like it but boy did I get drawn in quick! I really need to see what happens next with these two!
Off to check the price right now :-)
