Kim Pook (101 KP) rated The Babysitter (2017) in Movies

Proper cheesefest
I put this movie off for ages as it didn't look that great from trailers, but i kept getting drawn back to it so thought I may as well give it a go.
Basically the movie is about a young teen called Cole - i use the word teen loosely as i swear he only looks about 12!- who has a hot babysitter. She's kind, sweet and Cole enjoys her being around. However, one night he decides to stay up and see what she gets upto when he's asleep, turns out she's part of a satanic cult. When she finds out that he knows, her and her cult friends set out to try and kill Cole and it turns into a cross between scream, scary movie and home alone.
It has a lot of tongue in cheek humour and not to be taken seriously, if you want an easy watch with still plenty of gore give it a go.

Zombie genius
First few series were great, storylines were good. Lots of suspense and characters with interesting back stories. This series offers great gore and horror along the way, they are also not frightened at killing off main characters even ones which the fans have come to love.
Negan was a breath of fresh air and even though he's a baddie he's funny and a character you come to like. Jeffrey Dean Morgan is a great actor and brings good fun to the show.
The last couple of series however have become a bit boring and dragged out. There are a couple of standout episodes in them but otherwise I found them getting a bit boring and wonder if the show is coming to a close now on where to go. Would recommend to others still as the graphics and creative work on them is fantastic.

Creatures from the Black... Meteor!
Contains spoilers, click to show
A meteor comes crashing down to Earth one night... and it's inhabitants are a little bitey! Two campers witness the crash and soon enough fall victim to the sharp-toothed monsters, who then set their sights on a small town. After 2 grizzly murders, the monsters move onto another House. But these residents (one being a kid obsessed with Horror and Monster Movies) are willing to put up more of a fight against these creatures.
I really like The Deadly Spawn. It gets a lot of negative reviews and I have no idea why; it's actually very good... I've definitely seen a lot worse! It is quite tongue in cheek (which honestly makes it fun and terrifying at the same time) but comes with some very decent gore and the creatures look really good as well... pretty realistic! I enjoy it every single time I dig it out and give it a watch... one for the Creature Feature fans!

Me and my husband originally wanted to see this in our cinema, but our local wasn't showing it. We finally got to rent it from amazon prime last night.
The movie is about a young bride who has to take part in a family tradition of game night. What that game is depends on the card which is drawn from a box, unbeknown to the bride one card is a deadly game of hide and seek. Which is the card she draws, meaning she has to hide and the rest of the family have to find her and kill her before sunrise, because they believe if she lives they all die. The movie was very good, not too much gore but enough for any horror fan to enjoy, with some humour thrown in for good measure. They do try a few jump scares but they didn't phase me at all (and I'm a very jumpy person), that aside I would highly recommend it.

Sarah (7800 KP) rated Cube Zero (2004) in Movies

An interesting prequel
After the very lacklustre and ridiculous sequel Cube 2: Hypercube, Cube Zero is a breath of fresh air. I’m usually very much against prequels as they tend to over explain and try too hard, erasing any mystery. Fortunately I found that for the most part Cube Zero doesn’t go down the route that most prequels do. Yes it explains a few things and elaborates more on the reasons and origins behind the cube, but not to the point that it erases all intrigue. The ending too and how it relates back to the original i found rather satisfying.
I’m grateful that they’ve gone back to basics with this too. Gone is the over the top CGI and instead the wonderfully gory traps and physical effects are back, and some of the gore in this is rather impressive. Whilst I don’t think it’s as good as the original, it’s definitely very close.

Liberty Boston (93 KP) rated A Werewolf in Riverdale (Archie Horror #1) in Books
Mar 15, 2021
Wow.
Just, wow!
A Werewolf In Riverdale did not disappoint.
The book is split into three parts:
In Sheep's Clothing.
The Beast Must Die!
New Moon.
For me, this book was outside my normal fare of sweet YA and fairy Tale retellings but genre-hopping is okay now and then. Truthfully the only reason I wanted to read this one so badly is the fact that I'm a rabid Riverdale fan and with the book's darker, broody atmosphere I said “Why Not?”
Like I said before, I wasn't disappointed! Despite its monstrous villain, this book wasn't all blood and gore.
Though, it did have its moments I won't lie.
It was more like, “I know I should do this but it could be someone I know and I don't want to do it”. That was Betty and Archie's constant struggle while Jughead had to fight his instincts.
In all I totally would recommend it!
