Every family has it’s secrets…
Joe McKee – pillar of the Derry community – is dead. As arrangements are made for the traditional Irish wake, friends and family are left reeling at how cancer could have taken this much-loved man so soon.
But grief is the last thing that Joe’s daughter Ciara and step-daughter Heidi feel. For they knew the real Joe – the man who was supposed to protect them and did anything but.
As the mourners gather, the police do too, with doubt being cast over whether Joe’s death was due to natural causes. Because the lies that Joe told won’t be taken to the grave after all – and the truth gives his daughters the best possible motive for killing him…
A gripping suspense novel about deadly secrets and lies. The perfect read for fans of Clare Mackintosh.
I don’t know where to begin I couldn’t put it down. It deals with a very hard sensitive issue and in my opinion was so well done. It hit so many triggers and buttons but not once did I find it too much to handle or insensitive. It gives in a way 3 different accounts of abuse and survival of women who have gone through and still are suffering. So heartbreaking to read and gives a little hope!

Crown of Embers ( The Chosen book 3)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
"If it's a war she wants, I'll damn well give her one."
Kiri Helena Solene may have gotten her mate back, but that was just the beginning. The battle lines have been drawn, and her nemesis has already struck the first blow.
Surrounded by her Circle, Helena's power continues to grow. However, this time, power alone will not be enough. To save the Chosen, Helena must seek out the Forsaken to forge new alliances with those long forgotten by her kind. But will they be friend or foe? After centuries of neglect, is it too late to mend the wounds of time?
Rowena will stop at nothing to prove that Elysia and the Chosen are hers. With Elysia on the brink of destruction, it's time for all of the Chosen to remember who, and what, they are.
Their fate depends on it.
Well this book didn’t hold back! We start of mourning Anderson and seeing Helena try to deal with grief as well as bringing the forsaken together. I have spent all book thinking omg I wish Darrin would stop being such a bitch then bam he’s turned to ash saving his love! Well I didn’t see that coming and felt kinda bad for being so harsh about him. On a high note Roman is officially a circle member. This is a decent series.
It’s about found family, loyalty, love, grief and healing.
Oxnard (Ox) narrates the story about how he meets a young boy who has moved into the house at the bottom of his remote country lane. They form a close friendship very quickly, and the boy (Joe) gives Ox a small stone Wolf as a gift. The true nature of the gift isn’t clear for a few years, and in that time Ox learns just who and what the Bennett family are. He goes from believing he’s stupid and worthless, to being an important, integral member of the Bennett pack - a family of werewolves.
Something terrible happens, and the family fragments in two: whilst one half (including Joe) go off on an arduous adventure, Ox remains behind to protect who is left along with the Bennett territory.
This does get pretty graphically violent, I’ll warn you now, but it’s in context - and these are wolves!
I was utterly beguiled by this story - and I’m glad that I have the next in the series to head to already! I’d like to know how Ox and Joe are getting on as newly mated wolves - and who we’ll learn more about in the next book, Ravensong (I have my suspicions!).

These two are incredibly sweet together, and Nate shows that he is strong in ways that are not just physical. Linc's grief was incredibly well explained and nuanced, showing there isn't a time limit on mourning someone's loss.
Whilst I loved both of them for varying reasons, I really wanted to slap Linc upside the head for not communicating with Nate, who had already proven he would listen with a calm ear and attitude. Now, I know the upset needed to happen for the story, but still... LOL
A strong start to the series and I honestly can't recommend this highly enough. Can't wait to continue and see who finds love next.

The story is told through three characters, and almost entirely by Duane Minor, a Vietnam vet, who is still struggling with the horrors that he saw on his tour. Duane embarks on his journey of revenge with his niece, Julia, who has also experienced trauma before her aunt adopted her. They are both searching for John Vadey, the vampire who is to blame for the death of their loved ones. All of these main characters are flawed, and this makes for a sad, melancholy story. Their backstories are well-developed and their actions are believable (within the context of the story, because I would be at home, hiding behind the sofa!). The narrator, Pete Cross, brought these people to life and made it seem all too real, especially the devastating finale. This is a masterclass in the vampire genre.
Keith Rosson is an author I haven’t come across before, and looking at his backlist, it looks as though I have a bit of catching up to do!
