The third book in the Sisters Grimm series finds Sabrina and Daphne hot on the trail of their kidnapped parents and meeting an uncle everyone in town seems to have forgotten. Once again, the creativity of incorporating the fairy tale characters was wonderful. The book grabbed me from page one and didn't let me go.

It's full out war as the Grimm family trains some Everafters to try to take down the Scarlett Hand. This is the darkest book in the series so far, and it doesn't feel like it has a real climax. However, I did enjoy it and look forward to reading the next one.

Sabrina and Daphne Grimm start their new school only to have a teacher murdered their first day. Is one of the Ever Afters guilty of the crime? This combination of fantasy and mystery may be aimed at kids, but I absolutely love the world it creates. And the cliffhanger definitely left me wanting more.

Utterly captivating. A masterful piece of good old fashioned story telling. (0 more)
A grimm fairytale
I haven't been so completely drawn into a book since I read Michael Ende's "Neverending Story" (hell mend you Disney for what you did to that exquisite novel). This is a heartachingly tender story of childhood bereavement and bewilderment. The tale is so skillfully woven I walked every step of the story with the lost and lonely little protagonist.

Jamie Grimm is a middle schooler who has learned to deal with the sorrow in his life by telling jokes. Then he hears about a contest for kid comedians. Should he enter? I enjoyed the books and the humor definitely made me laugh. However, the plot introduced several potential conflicts only to drop them without any development at all.

The Grimm family is trying to pay the high taxes to save their house and track down several stolen magical items. I was drawn into this book very quickly and loved how the characters are developing. Unfortunately, the climax was once again a little weak and the coda was nothing more than a set up for the next book
