Definitely not what I expected from this novel at all, I'm interested in exploring his novels for adults now. I loved that this was a book about the brothers Grimm and didn't see it coming.

I miss the old days of Grimm, back when every episode was a revelation, new and unusual vesen introduced and a new case closed. A bit like The X Files this tailed off somewhat in subsequent series where one main long running plot took over.

Reminiscent of Grimm Fairytales
Favourite book read in 2018 (so far!)
The first thing I have to say about this book is wow. I went into it not knowing what to expect but was completely blown away by the storyline of Vasya as she navigates becoming a young woman who is powerful, in a time when women were not; whilst using old school magic to try to help her people.
The Russian folklore gives this book a modern fairytale feel, however the darkness echoes that of the original Grimm Fairytales.
Altogether, this is a very well written epic, not to be missed, and that I very much enjoyed.

Sunk it's claws in from the first episode and never let go.
Grimm was such a unique and fun idea that when I first heard about it I just knew that not only was I going to watch but that I was going to love it and oh boy was I right,
Some of my favorite things are fairy tales and cop shows and Grimm finds such a perfect balance between the two that I stood no chance at all but to fall instantly in love.
And the fact that they take not only from fairy tales but from myths from all over the world just help to set the show apart.
