Nerve-manglingly bleak and grim public information film. Six young children play cowboys and indians, cops and robbers, etc, on a (seemingly quite badly managed) farm and are one-by-one crushed under trailers, drowned in slurry pits, poisoned by weedkiller, etc, etc. All the time the adults are preparing for a mysterious party...

Pretty much guaranteed to traumatise most young viewers, I would have thought, and quite a tough watch for anyone else: you *know* that something horrifically fatal is going to befall one of the young cast every few minutes. In this respect it's written and paced exactly like a horror movie, the kind of thing children would never be allowed to watch - but this is supposed to be educational, see, so they can do things you'd never be allowed to show in an actual commercial movie. Director Mackenzie would go on to make The Long Good Friday and The Fourth Protocol (amongst other things) and brings a mixture of gritty naturalism and an eerie, dream-like quality to the film. Nastily effective: enough to put anyone off a trip to the countryside.

Welcome to peach trees

Welcome to Mega-City One, a self contained city, with over 400 million citizens where the only law enforcers are the Judge's who are Judge, Jury & executioner. Filled with mega-structures.

Peach Trees is a 200 Floor mega-structure housing tower, the block is home to more than 75,000 citizens & is Notorious for its crime rate.

Whilst investigating a homicide with rookie Judge with a powerful psychic ability legendary Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) becomes the Target of a vicious and violent Hunt by the Ma-Ma clan when she put the tower into Lockdown!

Karl Urban's portrayal of the comic book Legend and his decision to remain faithful to the character made this movie one not to miss and although the box office was not as successful as it should have been, it has become a cult Hit with audiences all over the world.
Dredd is dark, gritty, well thought out, with a great plot fantastic action and gave us a dredd who doesn't remove his helmet.

Highly recommended.

Elevator Pitch is a fast paced thriller that will have you taking the stairs for a good while after reading it!

An elevator accident results in the death of four people: a pointless, tragic accident. When a second ‘accident’ occurs and a witness survives, it becomes obvious that these accidents are anything but that.

Two NYPD detectives investigating the murder and terrible disfigurement of the victim don’t immediately see a connection to the elevator deaths, but when they discover that he was an elevator service technician, they begin to become increasingly suspicious.

Well, this well-written thriller had me on the edge of my seat from the start. Honestly, I was as clueless to what was going on as the characters in the book. I really liked the gritty reporter, Barbara, who was determined to hold the city’s mayor to account. She was driven, single minded, with a real sense of justice. As were the two NYPD detectives. The mayor came across as a typically corrupt politician: unlikeable and selfish.

I’d really recommend this if you like tense thrillers - this delivers in spades!
