Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Halo (Fallen Angel, #1) in Books
Jan 20, 2021
I got this from the Kindle Unlimited library after being a bit of a geek and going through the story on Chapters - the interactive story app? - and getting intrigued by these two guys and how their relationship would progress.
This starts with the successful rock band TBD looking for another front-man after their old one walked out several months ago and never came back. In walks Halo, a talented guy with the voice they're looking for and decide to make him their frontman. Viper, an original member of TBD, feels an intense attraction to Halo from the moment he walks in the room and it only grows when he hears him sing - the only issue is Halo claims he's straight.
Since I'd read through the story on Chapters, I pretty much knew everything that was going to happen although in the app we only see Halo's POV and in this book we get alternating POV's between both Halo and Viper and i thought it was great to see what was going on in Viper's head.
I love the progression of this thing that sparks between them and Viper's innuendo and single mindedness when it comes to wanting to get in Halo's pants. That's why I've called it a thing because Viper isn't exactly the romantic type but the care and attention he's shown Halo makes me believe he truly cares about him and I cannot wait to read the next book to see where their relationship goes next.

Very Enjoyable
Having a massive video gaming background, I'm finding it strange that I never really bothered with Halo. I'm beginning to wonder why that is... It's an interesting world to say the least. My Dad let me borrow this novel after he read it because he knows I love my sci-fi. If I'm honest I was a little skeptical about it, having never actually played Halo I was worried it wouldn't make much sense, but it was quite good, it wasn't bogged down with too much information, yet still explained things so that someone who hasn't ever played Halo could still enjoy the novel. I liked the characters and all their differences from each other. Some interactions between characters were particularly amusing at times. If I had one negative thing to say about this one was the ending was a tad predictable. I knew how it was going to go from around the end of chapter ten. Other than that it was an interesting read with a few gripping moments that had me walking around with my nose in the book :) You like sci-fi and aliens? Pick this one up, it's not overly taxing to weave your way through the Halo world, and it's enjoyable too.

A great Halo adventure (3 more)
Shooting and new movement mechanics are awesome
Looks great and runs smooth
The addition of Master Chief's surviving Spartan squad from the books!
Too much time spent as Spartan Locke (2 more)
Give us more Master Chief!
No split-screen co-op
Too Much Time Devoted to Spartan Locke
When people play a main-line Halo game, they want to be Master Chief, and they want their friends playing as allies while sitting on the same couch. The inclusion of Master Chief's elite Spartan squad is an obvious split-screen co-op opportunity, but apparently not obvious to Halo's new developers. Halo 5 is in excellent game, no doubt, but it is marred by this baffling choice as well as another: you play as Spartan Locke more than you do as Master Chief. It feels as if you get barely any time back in the boots of everyone's favorite Spartan, and that sucks, big time. Outside the campaign, multiplayer and Forge are great as always, and the game is worth any FPS fan's time and money.

Honestly, I barely remember any of the Predator movies, so I had little to no expectations going into the film. It was alright. The film had a great start, but then it devolved into silliness. And, prepare people, they set it up for a sequel, of course.
One thing that bothered me was Olivia Munn's character. She was a biologist, but somehow, she was holding the guns like she held them before. Was she supposed to be ex-military? Does she play a lot of Halo? I was completely confused.

Eric (498 KP) rated Why Me? Why Not. by Liam Gallagher in Music

Solid sophmore effort from Liam Gallagher
This is a solid album that falls under the singer/songwriter genre. Basic adilt contemporary sound with each song being well constructed. While the whole album is an easy listen, only 2 songs standout for me Shockwave, which opens the album with a catchy hook, and Halo which is a bit more upbeat and cheerful than the rest of an album.
It gets lost in the sea of hundreds albums like this, but a good effort and worth it for fans of Gallagher and Oasis

Surprising
I put this one off for a long time because I heard it wasn't very good. I'm glad I finally watched it. The effects were pretty cool and the acting was on par with most action movies. The story was "fantastical" like any sci-fi movie should be- not really believable but fun to watch. It played out well and had plenty of great action sequences. The monsters were pretty cool too. This eas like "Halo" meets "Godzilla". It's even "kid friendly".If you love sci-fi action adventures(and haven't seen it already) this one is worth a watch!

Tom Cruise is crazy & I love him (4 more)
Crazy stunts
Movie moves along at such a great pace
The characters are great, as always
Did I mention Tom Cruise is crazy?
Non-stop action!
These movies just keep getting better and better. Tom Cruise kicks it up a notch from one movie to the next. His stuntwork is some of the best Hollywood has ever seen. He drives a motorcycle against traffic in Paris. He jumps from rooftop to rooftop. He flies a helicopter over low ground. He HALO jumps. He's crazy & I love it!!! Give me more!!

Writing Style (2 more)
Engaging Characters
A Good Mix of Combat, Crime and Mystery
Definitely Worth the Read
Definitely worth the read, I enjoyed the style of writing and the characters were very engaging. I haven't read a Halo book yet that has disappointed so I have high hopes for the next one on my list. What I liked about this one was that it wasn't just solely about combat it actually had an element of mystery and crime to it which made it interesting. I felt the reveal of the criminal was anticlimactic which was a little disappointing for me but I enjoyed the ending none the less. It was an enjoyable read, I'd recommend it to sci-fi readers and crime fic readers alike.
