"Most commentators stress the heartbreak, delicacy and sympathy, and so on, but Ozu, like Blake, was of the devil’s party without knowing it. Although it is called Tokyo Story, its truth is universal: the only thing worse than having your parents to stay is having your in-laws to stay."

This coming of age story is set in a small town in Maine. There is some mystery but mostly it is the story of a young girl dealing with tragedy, heartbreak, and growing up. I fell in love with Florine and hope that the rest of her life goes smoother than her first 17 years!

I wasn't sure what to expect when I happened to run across Cats of the Louvre on the shelf at my library. I'm glad I read it. It's full of art appreciation, mystery, some heartbreak, and cats when the Louvre is closed at night. It's an odd, magical story told in graphic novel form.

This is a very cute, heartwarming story of a man that adopts a plump, kind of ugly cat from a shelter. The man lives alone, and as his story begins to unfold, piece by piece, his current story with his new pet is his current focus. It's a cute story with some short places of heartbreak, albeit short.

"The sheer moxie of situating the story of the story in the end notes. This is the eternal tale of the heartbreak of the homely girl’s humiliation in love, and her parents who have to watch. All seen from the best of all unreliable narrators who may or may not be nuts or a Russian royal."
