Merissa (13878 KP) rated A King Under Siege (The Plantagenet Legacy #1) in Books
Mar 10, 2022
Told as an amalgamation of fact and fiction, you get the story and history with comments and questions raised by an observer. It is clear that a lot of research has gone into this book.
Richard was the last of Plantagenet kings in the direct line and you see his relationship with Henry Bolingbroke -- the most direct descendant in the male line, as opposed to the then-heir presumptive -- as a fraught affair, with Henry not involving himself too deeply in the politics of the time, but having great impact upon Richard when he did.
This part of the story takes us through to 1388, ending with a hint of Richard regaining control in 1389.
A story that will definitely intrigue and interest lovers of both the Plantagenet era and the Tudor, as this shows the build-up to future events. Definitely recommended by me.

Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!
Debbiereadsbook (1691 KP) rated Make Them Beg (Pretty Deadly Things #3) in Books
Jan 9, 2026
This is book 3 in the series, but you don't need to have read the other two books. Helpful, to see how this group work as a unit but not necessary, I don't think. I enjoyed those two books.
And I enjoyed this one too, but for a very different reason.
Lark and Knight have been doing the denial tango (stolen straight out the book!) for a long time. Thrown together in close proximity after a job goes wrong and they get a target on their backs, they finally admit to themselves and each other, just what they really think about the other.
And this, is whay I enjoyed it so much. Both have feelings for the other, but they've been fighting it for so long. And ending up in the murder cabin (again, out the book!) with a possibility this could end very badly, gives them the shove to admit those feelings. But not just about the attraction, about what it might mean for them to be together and how they are both scared and worried and ALL IN! Because these two are all in from the start, and I loved that.
Dean Maddox pops up, as Does Ranger Cole (from Maddox Security) but you don't need to read their books before this. Arrow, Gage, Knight and Ozzy have been recruited by Maddox is all.
The book leads nicely into Ozzy's story and I hope I get to read it!
4 very VERY good stars

Chris and Logan have had an on-again/off-again relationship for approximately three years, and both of them want more, but neither of them are prepared to say anything. Mixed up with this is the job that they do, with Logan currently searching for someone involved with child porn/kidnapping. They get pulled onto another case though, with Jaden appearing to be targeted by a media leak within the department. This means that they work more closely with Jaden and Cam than they have previously, learning more about those two and themselves at the same time.
Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed this book and found it to be a brilliant carry on from book one, there were parts where I was a bit confused. This was simply because the story is told from both the main males' perspectives, and sometimes it wasn't clear just who was talking. It was "he said, he moved, he thought," whereas a name might have been a bit more helpful at times. I must point out that I received an ARC of this, so I'm sure that this will be picked up and sorted before the book is released.
On the whole, this is an exciting, action-packed book that I can highly recommend. Looking forward to book three now.

MaryAnn (14 KP) rated Warfare Praying: Biblical Strategies for Overcoming the Adversary in Books

He shows the reader how to use one of our most powerful weapons; prayer to defeat our enemy. Mr. Bubeck shows us through praying doctrinal prayers we can overcome anything that our enemy will throw at us.
In this book, we see Mr. Bubeck's Biblical wisdom, some personal illustrations or stories that come together to show us and teach us about our spiritual warfare.
This book is very insightful and very much worth reading. We are a huge battle every day. It surrounds us, we live in a world enclosed in sin. With our fallen nature, we live encircled by adultery, fornication, uncleanliness, heresies, witchcraft, hatred, inconsistency, emulations, anger, discord, envying, murders, drunkenness, it’s in our faces every day. Through media, our schools, the internet, movies, television.
This world is Satan’s kingdom. The world would love to dictate our values and try to pressure us into its mold. With Mr. Bubeck's book in hand, we can learn how to defeat this enemy and win this battle.
I highly recommend this book for all believers.
