Aasiyah Sidat (34 KP) rated Making Over Maya in Books
Oct 2, 2018
This book review is for the first and second book in the Hot Tide series.
The hot tide series follows the lives of competitive surfers who are taking on the various waves and beaches around the world. The first book follows Summer, an up and coming surfer who is eager to break out into the surf circuit and Ashton, a former surfer turned photographer. They were high school sweethearts along time ago but were left feeling bitter after a messy breakup. The second book follows Maya, a PR consultant for all things surf-ey and Dominic, the business mogul who is looking to take on the surfing community. Maya and Dominic start working together to rebrand his image but also to help Maya get the man of her dreams.

Sarah (7798 KP) rated I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997) in Movies

It has a great young and popular cast (back when Jennifer Love Hewitt was good) with a fantastic soundtrack. And not only that, the plot is actually pretty intriguing and even now some of the scenes are pretty scary and creepy - the one in the deserted department store still creeps me out. I’ve always loved the fact that this film plays on the classic urban legend of the man with a hook for a hand, as that was always one of my favourites. They really don’t make slasher films like this anymore.

I picked this one up from the library because it sounded good and I love books about zombies.
The idea is fantastic! It's original in the sense that it's about zombies crying out for help and needing assistance with their unfinished business rather than trying to eat your brains...I liked that.
Unfortunately for me the idea just didn't come together. I found the MC to be very annoying and the plot was continuously battered due to her wanting to be popular...it was just one big popularity contest. I found the other characters rather shallow and were immensely over shadowed by the MC. Just by looking at the front cover I should of expected that whole American high school princess drama but I guess I didn't expect it to be that bad.
So much could of been done with such a fantastic idea, it just wasn't for me.

Bronwyn, the overachieving nerd, hoping to head to Yale, Cooper the star baseball jock, Addy the prom queen and Nate the bad boy, are all now looking at facing murder charges when the investigation uncovers Simon's last gossip column, pointing the finger in their direction.
Follow the Bayview 4 as they try to uncover the other secrets, prove their innocence and try to keep up with being teens in a normal high school.
McManus keeps the suspense building in this well written novel. Expect some twists and the odd red herring as you follow the journey of these four very likeable characters, thrown together in an unlikely friendship.
Lyndsey Gollogly (2893 KP) rated Goblins Wear Suits (The Magical Beings' Rehabilitations Center #2) in Books
Feb 6, 2020
With a certain Goblin mob boss urging her to stay within commuting distance of Chicago, and a flirtatious Pooka pushing her to study overseas, Morgan has a hard enough time trying to sort through her college choices the way it is. Planning out her future is made even more difficult when terrorist threats are issued by an anti-human, anti-rehabilitation, magic-based organization. Does Morgan want to continue working at the MBRC when it puts her life in danger?
It has rounded off book one nicely but I think I got a little bored towards the end. I'm glad that she chose her pooka in the end. I do like K.M. Shea and I'm moving on to her next series!
