"For a myriad of different reasons. It’s the ultimate group of lawless action buddy movies. They have all spawned from this. Every sort of two handed buddy movie as The A-Team and — it all comes from this one film: Seven Samurai. It gave Hollywood a genre. Not only did it influence the western genre very obviously, with Sergio Leone and Clint Eastwood, but every genre of outsider, loner, anti-hero. The character played by Toshiro Mifune, that’s the quintessential character in Hollywood. You’ve seen it played by Montgomery Clift. You’ve seen it played by James Dean, Marlon Brando, Paul Newman, Al Pacino, Robert De Niro. They’ve all been influenced in some way by that one character that appears in the Seven Samurai. The wildness. The gregariousness. The mad genius. The outsider. The survivor. Of course, you know the film is an incredibly, beautifully shot film. Akira Kurosawa is one of the greatest writers of all time. It speaks for itself. I’ve seen it well over a hundred times. But years ago. 20 years ago — possibly the first. Maybe even 25 years ago was the first time I saw it. An extraordinary movie."

"I’m skippin’ past all my movies right now in my mind, just so you know [laughing]. You know what? I’m going to go with Boomerang. Yeah. It was either going to be Boomerang or The Color Purple, but I feel like I’m trying to pick movies that not everybody picks. So I’m going with Boomerang. It was Eddie at the height of Eddie. It was a movie that was different than you had seen him do. The romantic comedy genre, and of course Halle Berry, who was still a fresh face at that time. I really enjoyed the construction of that movie. I’m a fan of the Hudlin Brothers [Warrington and Reginald]. They actually gave me my first internship in this industry. Absolutely. Straight out of college. My first internship was on a movie they made for Miramax, called Ride. I went down to Jacksonville, Florida and I was a camera PA on that movie. I learned a lot about Hollywood production. At that point I had made a movie, but it was an independent film that I made while I was still in college. This was my introduction to Hollywood filmmaking."

A genuinely funny and fun romp with B movie King Bruce "Don't call me Ash" Campbell that steps inside the Hollywood machine, and then smashes it with a hammer. Is it true? All of it, except for the parts that aren't. Or so claims the cover.

Listened to the unabridged audio book, which plays out more like a Big Finish audio drama, with sound effects etc... Bruce is in fine vocal form, and fans will get a least a small kick from the name drops of various projects he's been associated with.

Gone Girl on a train
I was so looking forward to this film. It looked like another Gone Girl and it starred one of my favourite actresses working in Hollywood today in the lead role. Unfortunately I was left a bit disappointed. This isn't a bad movie by any stretch, it simply failed to live up to the high expectations that I had for it. Maybe this is my fault, if all you are looking for is a well acted thriller then you may like this one better than I did.

Fabulous historical political biopic
It's easy to dismiss this as another big budget Hollywood film, however, the fact that Tom Hanks' character has to fight against the American judicial system makes it seem less like a "Make America Great Again" type of movie. Jim Donovan was a unique lawyer defending a Soviet spy, and then making an exchange for a US soldier and student stuck in East Berlin. The historical political nature of this biopic is fascinating. And while there is an element of hero worshipping, there's a good reason to love Tom Hanks.

A clever Story
This is another of the horror films to come out of Indonesia and its worth a watch. I thought that the story was clever and the characters believable. The suspense was there throughout and once again like most of these filme there were some clever plot twists. If you like your horror that is not all hollywood glitz and glamour then you will enjoy this. Quite gory in places and graphic too. I thought it was worth watching and rating :)

Phenomenonal movie
This movie is possibly one of the best musicals to come out of Hollywood in a few years! The music is extremely catchy, you'll want to hear it again and again. Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron's number "The Other Side" is a choreography spectacle, "This Is Me" is a powerhouse anthem, "Rewrite the Stars" both vocally and visually stunning!!! The acting is just amazing, and the plot is heartwarming, with a few tugs on the heart strings for good measure. You'll want to see this movie again and again, ad naseum
