Why?
No one has seen this movie. It waste a good cast like aaron paul and micheal keaton.

Anethor movie based off of a video game. When will hollywood learn that you cant turn a video game into a movie.

All movies based off of video games, have failed. This is one of them.

Detective Pikachu is pretty great

"I liked My Fair Lady, though I thought Dr. Strangelove was a much more adventurous, subversive film that year, and should have won the Academy Award — listen to me talking like a Hollywood insider — but I loved that musical. So it beat Dr. Strangelove which is one of the most important films ever to me."

A little bit of Hollywood machismo with flaky plot
As interesting as this story began, the main character turned out to be the usual Hollywood leading man where he does all the work, is invincible and everyone else are either damsels in distress or subservient admirers.

While the most intriguing part was the crux of the motive which was well researched and explained, it was brushed aside too quickly and then the Bond-like action completely took over the plot.

The book was written too much like it was going to be made into a movie - which it did - with a bonehead like Tom Cruise acting as the main man - which he is. Better to watch the film than read the action.

You should try reading all of them. I made that my mission as at the very least they're quick easy reads, but boy was that a mistake. They're all so formulaic and predictable, and instantly forgettable.

@Sarah serious kudos to you for reading them all!

You can blame the huge success of Fargo for this. Hollywood, even before that, had been moving more and more to exploiting movie properties on the small screen. But since Fargo married up critical acclaim to a good audience? All bets are off.

Here is a list of movie-to-TV projects currently in differing stages of production...

These epic movies are getting a small-screen spin-off, so you can now binge watch your favourite films to your heart's delight.

A classic
You see so many influences on other films in this 1950 classic tale of rising and falling stardom in Hollywood and the constant attention toward youth.

Maybe not as visually interesting as other films of the period like Citizen Kane or Sunset Boulevard. The screenplay, characters and acting are enough to carry this film through.

"This biography, written with a novelist’s stylization, was an incendiary moment in western culture. Ironically, it became the weapon that would win the cultural wars for dispossessed black, urban America. It’s impossible to think of what street culture of white Hollywood would look like without it. Slim is the most influential writer in English since Shakespeare."

"Well, the first movie I ever saw was Wizard of Oz, and that was when I kind of realized that movies — almost in a way — existed, that this other world of movies could be my playground too, and that was definitely probably the movie that fascinated me and entranced me with, hence, Hollywood. Not to be cheesy about it."

"Early on, surprisingly enough, Italian cinema broke the Hollywood barrier by making simple, down-to-earth stories. Most of the films were made without live sound but dubbed later by experts. It meant that noisy, unblimped cameras would give flexibility to image-making. Stories like Bicycle Thieves, Rome Open City, and Paisan all fell into that category."

"There were a number of key films that taught me that great and startling cinema could come from outside Europe and away from Hollywood. I found Touki bouki (with its anarchic, vigorous style, brilliant colors and sounds, and charismatic heroine) completely surprising when I first saw it—and, more generally, it stands for the eye-opening cinema of Senegal."
