Tania and Trevor Wilde are twins. They live in a small lake town with their parents. Every night their parents have "wine time" where they hurl bottles and insults at each other. Tania and Trevor spend "wine time" in their room wishing they could be anywhere else and making a plan to get away. The Wilde family is the definition of a dysfunctional family. Mom is abusive towards Tania and Trevor feels helpless to stop it. Then she invites strange men into the home while dad is away working. The next day, though, she will have bible study with some of her friends. Dad, is not exempt from the dysfunction. He is a professor at the local community college and brings home co-eds to the basement.

Tania frequently thinks about death and often coaxes Trevor to the dark side. She doesn't have many friends so she counts on her brother to fill that void. Then an unfortunate incident takes place and makes them both a lot darker.

Playmates, is a psychological thriller about killer kids. While this book did not have me on the edge of my seat, it held and captured my attention. I wanted to know what was going to happen next. I look forward to the next titles in the Wilde series. Bedmates and Soulmates.

I don't usually pick up thrillers but I spotted this whilst having a browse through my online library account and it sounded interesting. When I reserve books at the library to pick up it gives me a push to pull my socks up and get those books read before the deadline, if I own the book it's too easy to slack. With a deadline looming I am pushed to read books that I wouldn't usually read, which I think is brilliant as I get to experience some different genres.
Long story short I thought this book was fantastic! It was brutal, it was gory and it kept me guessing until the end. Once I had finished the book I went and reserved the second in the series.
I thought the story was very well written and I liked all of the characters. Maybe there were a few plot holes but it didn't distract me or make much difference to the storyline.
This is definitely one of those books that just gets into your head and will not let you sleep, when I had to go out and leave the book at home I heard a little voice calling me...calling me back home 'read me...read me...', what a hold it had.
Enjoyed it very much!

It’s November of 1942, and Betty Ahern is doing her part for the war effort from her hometown of Buffalo, New York. That’s why she is one of the many young women working at Bell Aircrafts to build the planes the Allies need. But when someone starts sabotaging the production line, Betty sees her chance to emulate her big screen idol, Sam Spade, and solve a mystery. A murder further complicates things. Can she figure out what is happening?

I love learning about World War II, so it was nice to read a historical mystery set at home during the time. Betty finds plenty of motives that would only work during this time period, which I appreciated. The pacing could have been a little better, but the book kept me engaged most of the time along the way to a great climax. Betty and the main characters were well-developed. I did feel like some of the supporting players, especially Betty’s family, could use more development, but hopefully we will see that happen as the series progresses. Betty was first introduced in a short story that I need to go back and read now. There are a few references to what happened there, but nothing spoilery. If you enjoy historical mysteries, be sure to check out this book.

Seeking Shelter but Finding Murder
Jax, her husband Perry, and their closest friends are looking for a way to get home safely before the fallout from the last book really hits. Their best option is to go to Perry’s home duchy, where his father is the duke. But their arrival finds them feeling less than settled. Perry’s father is behaving strangely. And Perry’s oldest brother, the next in line, is less than welcoming to the reforms that Jax wants to institute across the realm. The party can’t help but wonder if they are truly safe. And that’s before they find themselves embroiled in yet another shocking murder.

If you aren’t already a fan of this series and are up to date, don’t pick up this book. It starts just after the last one ended, and as such, it has some major spoilers. That also means it starts a little slowly wrapping up some things that we didn’t really need wrapped up here. But once it gets going, I was fully invested. Political intrigue plays a heavy part of the plot, and I loved it. I saw a couple of things coming early, but others took me completely by surprise. It all works because I love Jax and the rest of the core cast so much. I’m already plotting when I can revisit these characters again to find out what happens next.

If kid spy where real it would happen this way.
There are a lot of young spy kids books on the market. The Cherub series however is by far my favourite. The reason behind this is simple. The children in the book are allowed to be children yes there training got be says but there not good at everything they do. Unlike Alex rider if they get in touch spot they get caught in thought spots.

James Adams is the protagonist for this series in the first book he goes to an orphanage where he's potential for a spy is noticed. He is an ordinary kid which happens to have a gift for numbers he get in trouble one of the first assisgment he goes on though stricley speaking he not supposed to is to break I to a home make it look like kids whilst somone steal data from a computer. There nothing in this book that would make you think we'll that s reddiculus they have get out of that there no I must tell you my every plan because your you to die. There is just wow okay this could happen and I want to be part of cherub. Of course not everything is easy James is challenged by the camp instructed Mr large who takes pleasure in children pain.
