Who you gonna call? Ghost breakers!!
Classic 1980s supernatural comedy horror, that originally was going to be called Ghost breakers if they couldn't get the rights to the name, and starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Sigourney Weaver.
A bit dated by today's standards, and I recently found out that it was also rushed to meet a deadline (which might explain the sometimes ropey effects), but it does have a bangin' theme tune alongside an interesting take on the 'going into business' scthick.

Only just got around to seeing this. I actually thought it was an English film given the title but set in a small American town. The humour is definitely more English. At times it's like American Pie meets Shaun of the dead. It's silly and it plays up to that. You can tell the cast had fun and the gore effects were pretty decent as well. Definitely a film that will make you laugh.

The third entry in Sam Raimi's Evil Dead trilogy, a complete tonal shift from the previous two.
And, in my opinion, all that much better for it.
This is the one with Bruce Campbell's Ash transported back to the 1300s, into the middle of a war between two feuding kingdoms, and now looking for a way to get home this own time.
Ash being Ash, he - of course - mucks this up somewhat, reading the wrong spell and waking the army of the dead.
Comedy horror, basically.
And, in my opinion, all that much better for it.

What happens if you took a bunch of stereotypical and archetypal teenagers into the woods and let them party in a small cabin? In the eyes of Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard quite a bit it seems.
The college jock, the stoner, the virgin, the geek and the whore (or slut) are all grouped together ready to be ripped apart by a wide variety of insanely bonkers creatures.
A so called ‘love letter to horror’ Cabin in the Woods encapsulates everything we have ever seen in horror films over there years, and for any fan of the genre its what we all love to see.
What makes this film particularly special and something that sets it apart from all other horror films is apparent in the opening few minutes.
Deep in what seems to be a scientific layer, Sitterson (Richard Jenkins) and Hadley (Bradley Whitford) discuss and mull over the mundane as they make their way to a control centre ready for the days events to unfold. Just another day at the office then?
Meanwhile, the travelling party are making their way to the cabin, and after we see a bird of prey fly into what looks like a force field we known this isn’t going to be your normal run of the mill horror.
OK, move it a little to the right!
In one word its the Truman show with massive amounts of blood, which might be giving too much away for those that haven’t even seen it yet. The film has several nods to a number of past Hollywood horror greats such as Hellraiser and Evil Dead, and carries with it every cliche the genre has to offer.
Whedon’s popularity as a director is high, here though he keeps himself to writing duties only as Goddard gets the gig behind the camera in his first feature. It’s a thoroughly entertaining film, but you need to take it with a pinch of salt and remind yourself that this is a homage to horror with Hostel like tendencies.
It’s all balanced neatly with black comedy and has an a final 20 minutes which really has to been seen to be believed

It’s not going to sit with everyone, but for those true horror fans who have watched parties of teenagers getting picked off one by one in a creative way each time it will be one horror film they won’t forget in a hurry.

Let's not beat around the bush here, Evil Dead II is quite simply, one of the best horror movies ever made.
Picking up immediately after the first one concludes, the narrative dives headfirst into another night of chaos for Ash Williams, stuck in a possessed cabin in the middle of nowhere. The breakneck pacing never relents, ensuring that the entire runtime is horrifically entertaining. The serious tone of the first isn't completely replaced, but a dark, slapstick-comedy coat of paint is laid on thick, and it works perfectly with just how absurd proceedings become. This aspect is also bolstered by Bruce Campbell. He manages to be a badass protagonist, but his physical comedy performance is perfectly on point, and his descent into utter madness is well realised. The physical effects work is nothing short of spectacular, and Raimis unique shooting style benefits from a bigger budget.
Evil Dead II is a true, all-time horror great. It's frequently hilarious, flat out ridiculous, has generous lashings of gore, and still manages to deliver some solid scares in spite of its goofiness.

A movie you can really sink your teeth into
Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a horror/comedy about a high school cheerleader who learns that it is her destiny to hunt vampires.
juggling being a student/cheerleader & Training to hunt & kill the undead proves to be a little more stressfull as the final hour draws closer.
A fun light hearted yet dark themed Classic.
The movie was a moderate success at the box office but garnered mixed reviews by critics.
taken in a different direction than writer Joss Whedon intended, five years later, he created the darker, more successful TV series of the same name.

I understand not everyone likes the same old cheesy American horror but this one has been my top favourite film since I was 16!
Life is great parting drinking and messing with boys but when a stupid prank goes wrong and a guy ends up sticking a tire iron through a girls chest. The main girls help clean up the mess they caused and go on with there lifes. Graduation soon comes and so does a shocking series of events that's leaves behind a trail of body's, no one is safe.
I truly enjoyed this film all the actors and actresses are brilliant! A gripping horror that keeps you guessing throughout the film with plenty of girly bitchyness to keep a bit of comedy to this on the edge of your seat movie! Highly recommended
