The usual Guy Ritchie gangster romp
Anybody who has seen a Guy Ritchie gangster flick will not be disappointed. The usual colourful characters, language and violence run right through with never a dull moment. Expect the plot twists and turns common in his films. Hugh Grant's performance is a fresh change from his usual stiff upper lip, straight laced British posh chap he is famous for.

The Lair of the White Worm is adapted from the Bram Stoker novel, the film released in 1988 features Hugh Grant and Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who) early in their film careers, it also stars Amanda Donohoe and Catherine Oxbridge in a strange horror mixed with that Russell style campy humour.

Blood and feathers
Finally a decent guy Ritchie movie I actually liked after king Arthur and aladdin which I haven't seen. Back to download Ng the kinda movie which he's famous for eastend gangster type of movie. Acting excellent plenty of swearing which would make you're mother blush. For me the standout acting goes to high Grant playing against type not his usual and it works. Probably the ne of my favourite movies of the year so far

Heartwarming and funny
You can’t really go wrong with a Hugh Grant film based on a Nick Hornby book. Hugh Grant is his usual lovable, charming foppish self and the perfect person to play Will. Nicholas Hoult is great as Marcus and truly an up and coming star when this first came out. The rest of the supporting cast too are good, but it really is all about Will and Marcus. The plot is a little silly but is pretty much your almost typical British rom-com type film, but it stands out thanks to the funny and heartwarming script. It’s got enough serious moments in it too to not make it too silly either.

An altogether lovely and wonderful British film that may be over 16 years old now, but definitely stands the test of time and is worth a watch.

Very similar to Ritchie's Gangster films.
There will be blood and feathers everywhere!
I was interested in this after seeing the trailer as it looked quite fun. Back to what Guy Ritchie does best after various recent efforts with Aladdin and King Arthur. If you are a fan of @Snatch (2001) and @Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1999) then this is a film you will enjoy. With a great mixed cast, including a fun turn by Hugh Grant. A mix of oddball characters, plenty of funny moments, sharp witty dialogue along with some twists and turns in the plot. This has the same receipe for success as those earlier films. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would and left the cinema with a smile. Catch it while you can.

Not anywhere near The Gentleman (0 more)
Well an ok Action Comedy film with a decent cast. Hugh Grant pretty much playing a billionaire version of his character from Guy Ritchie's @The Gentlemen (2020) complete with same voice. There are some good action scenes and some funny one liners. Despite the budget though it doesn't have a blockbuster feel to it and doesn't reach the heights of many similar films in this genre.

Meryl Streep as usual is superb (0 more)

Lighthearted at times, quite sad actually, but all a ball of fluff in the end
The story of Florence Foster Jenkins is ambivalent. On the one hand, it shows how money can buy anything, and the upper class privileges that allow anyone to get away with anything. At the same time, you feel sorry for FFJ because she's extremely ill, alone, and she sings terribly, because why the hell not? From being a piano prodigy to contracting syphilis on her wedding night by her ex-husband that destroyed her ability to play let alone hear the pitch of her own voice - so in the end you feel sympathy for her. After that, you witness the brilliant performance of Meryl Streep, who is actually a good singer in reality, having to sing in the most terrible tones possible. Hugh Grant, as per usual, is a sap because that's the only role he knows how to play. Overall, a bit of lighthearted fluff.

At last I've finally seen it, more out of curiosity than anything else. I'm not a fan of Hugh Grant, seems he can only play the upper class, bumbling English idiot in all his films, which becomes annoying. I can see why this is so well liked by some. It does have some quirky British humour and a witty script. However it's way too long and typically cheesy as well. Not bad but personally think there are much better Rom-coms out there.
