Phenomenonal movie
This movie is possibly one of the best musicals to come out of Hollywood in a few years! The music is extremely catchy, you'll want to hear it again and again. Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron's number "The Other Side" is a choreography spectacle, "This Is Me" is a powerhouse anthem, "Rewrite the Stars" both vocally and visually stunning!!! The acting is just amazing, and the plot is heartwarming, with a few tugs on the heart strings for good measure. You'll want to see this movie again and again, ad naseum

LOVED IT

I'm only adding to my negative thing, but it contains spoilers so I'm writing it here - Jenny was a complete b*tch. She knew she was just an act to Barnum. He did let her know at the beginning. What was the point in moving in on him? He introduced her to his wife and daughters!

Modern musical, great songs, great choreography and costumes. (0 more)
Loved it!
Initially went to see this just to see Hugh Jackman in a less serious role (my previous experiences were Australia and the Marvels), and was utterly blown away by his performance.
The opening song was great and gave me chills, the whole film is upbeat, classy, modern and catchy. I rarely enjoy musicals but straight after seeing this one I bought the soundtrack it was that good. Hugh Jackman was great as PT Barnum and you really get a sense of his struggle for recognition and success and his drive to prove his worth to the world.
I have read a few reviews that describe this as too modern, and whilst I see what people are saying, I believe this appeals to a whole, new younger generation that need to be brought on board before the conventional musicals die out. Yes it is modern, however not unbearably so and the songs charted for weeks afterwards so public opinion suggests they are popular and I dont believe they are too modern for the storyline. I thought it was directed and choreographed incredibly well and would happily watch it repeatedly.
I may be biased however as I love most film that show achievement of lifetime dreams.

An very good cast, a good idea but a poor-ish execution only make this an ok thriller. I had high hopes for a lot more but the title alone really gives any idea of a twist away right from the start which was annoying. Hugh Jackman was very good in his role I thought and there are some appearances from Natasha Henstridge (Species, Ghost of Mars) and Maggie Q (Die Hard 4). However it is all too straight forward to work out if you have seen any decent thriller before. Ok for a look but nothing special, you might prefer Derailed instead.

Meant to be the start of a new Origins series in which we would learn about our favourite X-Men characters, Origins: Wolverine was a dreadful mess directed by Gavin Hood. Hugh Jackman has since could out and criticised the film, but it wasn’t helped by a practically finished version being leaked on the internet just months before its release. Loud, obnoxious and what were they thinking with Deadpool? Thankfully, Ryan Reynolds would have another chance at putting it right in 2016. It remains the worst in the series.

Rock em Sock em Robots?
Feel good family film that plays like a version of Rocky, in a future (of 2020!) where robot boxing has replaced the real thing, with Hugh Jackman portraying a down on his luck boxer who reconnects with his estranged 11 year old son over a summer period, following the demise of his ex.

All the main beats from Rocky are here: the rags to riches story, the romance/love story bit, the final boxing match against an opponent named after a Greek God...

(NB that's not to say this isn't enjoyable: it is!)

The best Wolverine film by far
This is the Wolverine film we've all been waiting for, and this is the kind of film they should've made to begin with (instead of the Origins etc).

This is a very fitting final outing for Wolverine. I loved the violence, it's refreshing to see a more adult Marvel film for a change - possibly taking it's lead from Deadpool? Some great turns from Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart too. My only complaint would be that the film gets a bit repetitive - Wolverine goes somewhere to hide out, gets found, fights, moves on - could've done without this quite so many times.

The Greatest Showman (2017)

Inspired by the imagination of P. T. Barnum, The Greatest Showman is an original musical that celebrates the birth of show business & tells of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a spectacle that became a worldwide sensation.

I challenge anyone to go to this film and not end up tapping their feet along to the music. Singing and dancing at it's best. It's probably some of the best singing I've heard on screen, dare I say it... all year. And it was a perfect way to finish 2017. It's exciting, interesting, heartwarming... and if that isn't enough then there's Hugh Jackman spinning the ladies when they dance... *sigh*.

Heartwarming with a fantastic soundtrack
I'll be honest and say that I'm a sucker for musicals, so it was pretty unlikely that I was ever not going to like this. And unsurprisingly, I did think it was really good.

It's a genuinely feel good and enjoyable film, with a fantastic soundtrack. The plot is interesting and they speed through the storyline instead of dwelling and trying to drag it out beyond the 2 hour mark. Hugh Jackman is probably one of the best and most loveable leading men in Hollywood and he puts on another fine show here. It's so entertaining to watch him sing and dance. It was refreshing too to see Zac Efron singing and dancing again since his High School Musical days.

Parts of the script and some scenes seem a little bit cheesy and cringeworthy, but fortunately the true star of this film is the music. All the songs were catchy and made me really want to sing along. They were that good that I have a feeling the soundtrack is going to be on repeat in my car now for quite some time to come.

I tend to rate films based on whether I'd go out and buy them, and I would definitely fork out some cash for this. Although it isn't the best musical I've ever seen, it's still hugely enjoyable with brilliant music.

Early 2000s (2004?) movie, that re-imagines the role of van Helsing (from the Dracula novel) as a Monster hunter, rather than the elderly scientist he is usually portrayed as, and with Hugh Jackman stepping into the central role as just that character.

Also starring Kate Beckinsale as Anna Valerious (and, yes, again wearing tight fitting trousers a la Underworld) and with Richard Roxburgh doing all but chewing the scenery as Count Dracula, this see's Van Helsing travel to Transylvania in an effort to uncover the mystery of his past and aid Anna in stopping her family's curse in a film that also sees many of Universals 'classic' monsters (Wolfman, Dracula's brides, Frankenstein's Monster, Jekyll and Hyde) involved.
