British comedy at its best
One of the greatest comiedies ever written. British legend John Clese and his merry gang so to speak create this 19070's era spoof on king arthur and his merry knights. His humor was different for it's time but really was the beginning for shows and movies like Police Squad and Airplane. If you haven't seen it and are a movie fan this is a must watch. If you need a good laugh this is a must watch or if it's on tv just watch it you wont regret it.
trytobeoriginal (21 KP) rated The View from the Cheap Seats: Selected Nonfiction in Books
Sep 12, 2017
Let me preface this by saying that I might be biased, since I have loved everything Neil Gaiman has written. Still, I'm generally not a big fan of nonfiction, especially essays and speeches, and I have loved this. Part of that is that it is speeches and essays about reading, books, comics, and the people that made some of my favorite books and comics. There is humor, passion, intelligence, and nostalgia in almost every essay.
It took me longer to finish this than it usually would, and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.

fantastic read
This is the first book by this author that I've read and OMG it definitely won't be the last. This story is full of humor and cringe worthy moments. This is a quick fun read. The characters were really well written and the way the secondary characters brought the story to life is perfect. This is a secy romantic read, perfect for these winter night. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.
Highly recommended

ArecRain (8 KP) rated You Can't Touch My Hair: And Other Things I Still Have to Explain in Books
Jan 18, 2018
A book that covers awkward and uncomfortable topics such as race, gender, and pop culture with enough humor to take off the edge, Phoebe Robinson is an unapologetic feminist with something to say. If it makes you uncomfortable, good. Her words are something that need to be read and taken seriously even as she makes them humorous. I value her wisdom and experiences because it something that will never occur to me. It’s hard for me to saying anything else beyond everyone needs to read this book, especially those who need their minds opened.
Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2206 KP) rated Alcatraz Versus the Shattered Lens (Alcatraz, #4) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
In the (unfortunately) final book of the Alcatraz Smedry series, Alcatraz is off to Mokia to try to keep the librarians from adding that kingdom to the Hushlands. Along the way, he gets a few surprises about his family and his talent. Fans of the series will love this latest adventure. It's filled with humor and action like all the others. Unfortunately, it also sets things up for a final book, which doesn't seem to be happening.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2206 KP) rated Murder With Peacocks (Meg Langslow, #1) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Meg's summer as maid of honor in three weddings for three different demanding brides is complicated enough before a dead body shows up. And there's the attractive man in town for the summer as well.... This is a fun, enjoyable series debut with plenty of humor. However, the mystery gets side tracked by all the antics of the characters at time. Still, this does start a series I love to this day.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2206 KP) rated Drizzled with Death (Sugar Grove Mystery, #1) in Books

When one of the competitors dies during the annual pancake eating contest, Dani finds her family's maple syrup business falling under suspicion. After all, the contestant's syrup was poisoned.
I enjoyed the book from the very beginning, but the more I read the further I got pulled in. The characters were complex and compelling and the mystery was great. The humor was an added bonus. Just watch out for those maple syrup cravings.
