Lovely stories

This book was great, it surpassed my expectations. All of the stories were well written, had good strong characters and had humor to make you smile. I would definitely recommend this set of books, and I will look forward to reading more books by this author in the future.

"She accomplishes in this novel what I’m always trying to do in film: make the mundane extraordinary not by adorning it but by telling it as it is. It combines deadpan humor with romantic yearning and makes you want to read more novels and maybe also try to learn Russian."

"I’ve never been a huge fan of David Lean’s epics and think the modest British films he did in the 1940s are superior. I also wouldn’t have thought he had a glimmer of humor, but this film is witty, and the actors (even Charles Laughton) have been directed with insight."

Surprisingly good story with subject matter that has been well tread, maintained humor throughout but very smart to see nazi Germany through the eyes of a child (0 more)
Not that I minded but there’s a seemingly jovial portrayal of Hitler that could be offensive. Nothing against the film but it’s noteworthy (0 more)
