A really entertaining creature feature!
A mutant creature emerges from a river in South Korea, kidnapping a young girl, her family races to save her.

Directed by Bon Joon Ho (Parasite, Okja, Snowpiercer), The Host blends horror, drama, and comedy seamlessly together.
When it was released in the USA, The Host was dubbed over, oddly enough. Generally, I hate dubbed live-action movies because they're always so cheesy, but the cheese really fits into this movie, making it more fun.
The films lead is Kang-ho Song (Parasite) who does a great job, he is believable, likable, and humorous. I empathized with him, surprisingly.

I did wish that the pace was a little quicker and that the monster would've been in the film more. But in general, I enjoyed the movie. I would recommend it to fans of monster movies, but really I'll recommend it to everyone.

Tenet teaser attached to movie (0 more)
One of the main draws for me to see this movie was that Nolan's @Tenet (2020) teaser trailer was attached. The other was that I haven't seen any movies and wanted to recoup my $20 for my AMC A-List.
This was a standard big, dumb, fun(ish) action film. The stunts were interesting to watch, though unbelievable. In fact, most of them were very similar to M:I6 Fallout's stunts. Hell, this film also had Vanessa Kirby in it.
The story line was predictable, and only slightly amusing. Ryan Reynolds appeared like a wild unicorn and did his Ryan Reynolds thing. Kevin Hart also appeared, and again, was slightly humorous. It was overly long, they should have cut at least half an hour out. The last part was a big ol' ode to the Rock (I will NEVER cease calling him the Rock).

Not bad
When I first put this movie on to watch I very nearly almost gave up with it. It starts with an annoyingly long interview with each family member to try and ascertain what happened with millionaire Harlan thrombie, which to be honest I found long winded and boring. The rest of the movie was good though and we learn why and how he died quite early on. The rest of the movie is the culprit trying not to get caught whilst working alongside the detective working on the case, who has absolutely no idea who hired him and why.
All in all an OK movie, not as humorous as I expected though in fact the only real laughable part was Daniel Craig's awful accent. If you like murder mysteries then I'm sure you'll like this.

When a sarcastic botanist is trapped on Mars
This was pretty hilarious, much more humorous than expected even after watching the film. The story follows American astronaut Mark Watney, as he becomes stranded alone on Mars in the year 2035 and must improvise in order to survive. As a botanist and engineer, he's able to think on his feet - and much of the science sounds incredibly plausible, explained in great detail.

But the best part is Watney's alter-personality from being logical and organised, to being extremely witty and sarcastic. All the while surviving on godforsaken potatoes. There are also snapshots of how his other crew members are managing, and how earth is following his progress as he becomes the face of primetime TV. It's a race against time.

All I know is that if you're ever stranded on a desert island, you'll definitely need to bring a botanist engineer space pirate with you.
