Elli H Burton (1288 KP) rated Bluestone 42 in TV
Nov 1, 2019
It's so funny (2 more)
It uses humour to make light of such an awful situation
It shows the importance of relationships when in such a dangerous situation.
It's only 3 series :( (1 more)
The ending has been left open ended, WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?!!
A funny take on a serious matter
I like this because it is based on something that people actually do. Even though they make light of the situation they find themselves in, it really helps you understand what people in the Army go through, the danger they are in every day, the sheer bravery and the emotional impact it has on them.

Print and play compatible (1 more)
Cheap and available anywhere
After you've seen a card once it loses any comedic value (5 more)
The game runs until it's not fun any more. Exhausting
Better, cheaper, more fun games are available
Lets your most unpleasant 'friends' be their worst selves, will scare off your nice ones
So incredibly awkward and exhausting with people you don't intimately know or who fall into ANY minority group
I've not seen a single play group not collectively agree to completely ignore certain rubbish cards that come up again and again
Shock humour covers a damp squib of a game

BookwormLea (3034 KP) rated Rick and Morty - Season 3 in TV

Great series! Needs to be watched by anyone with a dark sense of humour and a pinch of unsocialism..
Contains spoilers, click to show
All 3 seasons are pretty spectacular so I can't say any in particular would be my favourite but this season has some of the best episodes. Hello? Pickle Rick? Hilarious! Vindicators needs a fourth mission! So funny! And the ABCs of Beth episode was so weird I can't help but remember it.... The ending however! So frustrating! I can't believe I'm waiting 2 years if not more for th season 4.... Wubba Lubba Dub Dub am I right?

New style of game not often seen before (2 more)
Dark humour
Good for big groups
Can become repetitive (1 more)
Expensive expansions
The first few times I played this game, I thought it was the best thing ever. However, after a few more times, I found myself laughing less and less because I've 'heard it all before'. I recently played with an expansion pack though which picked it up a notch again. If you are willing to keep your deck updated with the expansions then this is a good investment as it's a great game to play with large groups.

I Just Don't Think I Get It
Don't know if it's just me, but I did not rate this program. Maybe the humour is too subtle/ dark/ deadpan, not sure, but try as I might, I just could not get into it. I did not laugh at the jokes, and found the dialogue very one dimensional (Not sure what I mean by that, just flat, I guess). I know a lot of people like it, so it must just be me, but was not into it. It's no Rick & Morty.

Barry Newman (204 KP) rated Beetlejuice (1988) in Movies
Feb 1, 2020
A creative and fun slice of early Tim Burton with the director beginning to establish his signature blend of dark humour and gothic landscapes populated by weird creatures. The quirky story and (due to their fantastical nature) the special effects still hold up well today , Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis also make for likeable leads but Michael Keaton of course steals the show in the title role ( even if I was surprised by how little screen time he actually has). This isn’t Tim Burton’s best film but you can certainly see his talent starting to develop and this is a fun little romp.

Barry Newman (204 KP) rated Justice League (2017) in Movies

I find Zack Snyder movies generally border on Michael Bay territory, visually very impressive but empty and soulless. I also didn’t like ‘Man Of Steel’ at all and find Henry Cavill a wooden Superman. This I actually found to be a slight improvement , it’s not as long and thankfully had a bit more humour with the addition of Wonder Woman , Aqua Man and The Flash to the mix. It feels very choppy though perhaps evidence of the extensive reshoots and turbulent journey to the screen the film had. Ultimately it’s watchable but fairly forgettable stuff that pales in comparison to any MCU movie.

Dean (6927 KP) rated Fleabag - Season 2 in TV

Another great series
Well I've managed to whizz through both series of Fleabag in no time. Again only 6 episodes long around 25 minutes long each. So great when you have a short amount of time to fit something in.
Set around a year after the events of the 1st series with all the same characters again. It's just as funny as the first series if not quite as good, but there is not much in it. If you loved the first series, who doesn't? Then you'll love the humour in this just as much.
