My name is Terra, and I’m a Psychic. I have visions, but my gift is getting more dangerous and I’m starting to worry. Though the team are continuing the pursuit of the escapees, my own hunt has taken a different course now a psychopathic serial killer has taken an interest in me.

Obsessed with fairytales, he’s kidnapped a young woman, and I've seen what he intends to do. I can’t let it happen – I won’t let her go through that pain. But I need to address my own pain too, and that means confronting the hard truth of who I want to be with, face-to-face.

Right now, I feel like both the predator and the prey but one thing’s for certain, I won’t be letting the killer have his happy ending.

These books just get better and better! I think the characters and story are just so good.Karen is just all man! He’s finally getting his girl! Fingers crossed. I adore Terra too. This story was so good and creepy with one of their demon prisoners possessing the soul of a serial killer it was just so interesting watching her work with Grady and hopefully he will say yes to the job! He will definitely be an asset to the team. Plus for some reason I don’t think we have seen the last of Cole and his jealousy.

So this is the type of shit we got right before 𝘑𝘰𝘩𝘯 𝘞𝘪𝘤𝘬, huh? Front-to-back wretched, wouldn't even pass as middling DTV fodder these days. Statham is so much better than such chintzy tripe, and I think he knows it judging by this sleepwalk of a performance - which the entire rest of the cast (except for a crackling Micah Hauptman) matches. Society has progressed past the need for more ignominious, generic 90s actioner-with-little-action ripoffs which basically only exist to fill up midday slots on the Starz channel. You'd think this premise would be intrinsically fun - just having Statham (in numerous disguises and funny accents) hunt down and kill the rest of his former team - but I guess it isn't in this piece of shit. It's a shame too, because the characters look good doused in blood and being shot and/or impaled with various items but the already tame R-rating is utterly wasted by overcutting and shaky-camming the flow completely out of the few fights there are. That might have been marginally less of an offense if it wasn't also seriously sexist towards its female characters. Lopez has no reason to trust this guy yet she badly wants to fuck him the second she sees him even after he assaults her, demeans her, and forces her to de-clothe in front of him - which they then try to spin into some gross romantic moment. Less than trash, somehow even worse than 𝘔𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘤: 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯.

'We'll be fine as long as we obey the laws of physics,' says Chris Bridges' character at one point in F&F 9. Well, obviously they should all end up dead, then; but perhaps this is an example of a knowing self-awareness which doesn't quite sit well in this most earnest of empty-headed popcorn movie franchises.

Anyway: Dom and Letty are raising their child off the grid in some rustic idyll or other, when their friends appear asking for help with a problem; not having seen Avengers: Endgame and how things turned out for all involved on that occasion, they agree to pitch in for another exercise in hunt-the-coupons plotting, with overblown stunt sequences linked by a (at this point) mind-bogglingly byzantine backstory.

The sizeable gap left by Dwayne Johnson is filled by cameos and return appearances by virtually everyone who's ever appeared in an F&F ensemble (no idea what young Eastwood did to get left out); virtually everyone comes back, even a couple of the dead ones. Of course, this just makes the film's gymnastics in dealing with the absence of Paul Walker all the more obvious (and a bit uncomfortable by this point).

Decent stunts and action, but all a bit slick and ridiculous even by F&F standards, and showing real signs of sliding into lazy self-parody; this series was effortlessly breezy entertainment for a long time, but it's definitely starting to look like it's running out of steam.
