Bong Mines Entertainment (15 KP) rated Rarest Of Birds by Grizfolk in Music
Jun 21, 2019
Grizfolk is an LA- & Nashville-based outfit with roots in Sweden. Not too long ago, they released a hearty indie-rock tune, entitled, “Hurricane”.
“Can we love like a hurricane? When the storm is here it’s hard to tame. Are we lost ‘cause we took it too far. If what it is isn’t all we are, shut the lights out, leave me in the dark. It wasn’t all supposed to fall apart.” – lyrics
‘Hurricane’ tells an interesting tale of a young guy who is head-over-heels in love with his significant other.
Apparently, he compares his stormy love for his partner to the nature of a hurricane, which means what he feels is very hard to tame.
‘Hurricane’ contains a relatable storyline and pleasing vocals. Also, the song possesses guitar-driven instrumentation flavored with a groovy indie-rock aroma.
“This song is about loving someone or something as hard and as fast as you can, like you’re eventually going to lose it” – Adam Roth
Grizfolk consists of Adam Roth, Sebastian Fritze, Fredrik Eriksson, and Bill Delia.
Their ‘Hurricane’ single will be featured on their upcoming sophomore album, entitled, “Rarest of Birds”, which will be released on July 19, 2019.

Great Middle Grade Read
This book follows the story of a young boy and his family when hurricane Katrina hit. The writing style is simple and easy to read; while keeping the story interesting. This makes it perfect for younger readers.
I also really liked that the author did her research. The book depicted events as accurately as possible. She also include a section at the end that was facts about the hurricane. Many of these facts were things I never knew, so it was nice to learn something new from an unexpected place.
This book would be a great way to teach kids about natural disasters, and introduced them to the history of hurricane Katrina.

A novel one lives rather than reads
Each of the fifteen Dave Robicheaux novels which preceded this one are masterpieces and this is the Grand Finale. The plot and characters move within the devasted landscape of New Orleans following the destruction wrought by Hurricane Katrina. The scenes of environmental destruction are described with heartbreakingly beautiful poetic prose which serves as a counterpoint to a seering indictment of the socio-economic political landscape of the time. The extreme conditions under which the plot develops drive the characters to their limits of good and evil. The plot is as relentless as the driving force of the hurricane. Often difficult to read due to the sheer emotional weight of the work but too compelling to put down.
Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2206 KP) rated Tide Water Talisman in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Diver Luanne Fogarty finds intrigue in a camp of Hurricane Katrina refugees who have settled in her fresh water swamps of northern Florida. The plot seems to get lost in the middle, although everything comes into play by the end.
