Batman Ninja is a visual delight. When it comes to the animation, this is frantic, incredible stuff and it's a treat to watch various sequences jump to life. Sadly, the story lets things down. Things start off well enough, but around the halfway mark it changes into a bizarre Power Rangers/Transformers hybrid that feels totally at odds with the tone that was set up before. Worth a watch, but don't expect magnificence.

"Okay, I’m going to do a hybrid again. Jacques Tati’s Mon Oncle and Playtime; I’m going to put those two together. One’s sort of spun off the other, in a way, but you could put either, because it’s really about Tati himself, and the conceptual art of his films. The film that has almost no dialogue, just gibberish and music and human behavior, and staging. Competition is staging, which I found fascinating. They seduce you into paying attention to the simplest of details."

"We’ve all wanted to be someone else at one point or another, but what if you took it to the extreme and made others believe you were that person? This is hybrid cinema at its best, showing that real life is truly stranger than fiction. Close-up has so many layers that I see something new each time I watch it. It’s a profound commentary on the power of cinema and the hold that it has on the outcome of our lives. "

Root, not my final rating/review.
This rating could possibly change later due to the fact I'm having a hard time getting it to the table. My gaming group is not interested except for 1. So I'm having to learn it solo to play with other member. Kind of a drag considering it was #1 indy game of 2018.
