Very meh
Full disclosure, I think I've watched the first one but that's it until this one.
I found it to be funny at times and predicable at others. The story is uninspired and the jokes are predicable. You may chuckle at best. Not a bad movie but it's one the kids can enjoy.

The beginning starts off quite exciting and uncovering topics such as ethics and morality which I found to be the most interesting and intriguing parts of the book. (0 more)
Not terrible but once you know the real reason for the study by Dr Shields, I felt there could have been another plot twist or two. (0 more)

Never be bored again
The lectures are delivered in a variety of formats and the transcript option is great if you want to take notes. I delved into TED looking for a specific subject, which I found easily, and then stayed to investigate some other topics I didn't even know I was interested in. I used to spend hours lost in encyclopedia as a child and this is a digital equvalent.

Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for the ARe-copy in exchange for this honest review. You can also read my review at my blog - roamingthroughbooks@wordpress.com" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://roamingthroughbooks@wordpress.com
I was keen to read this having enjoyed Macneal's first novel, The Doll Factory. However, I just did not connect with this storyline. I found the characters opaque and did not relate to their motives or actions. The relationships were shallow and left me unmoved. I found the secret contrived and lacking in any real revelation. Having said this I enjoyed the historical exploration of circuses and the trend of the Victorian fascination with "oddities". The themes surrounding identity and uniqueness were well delivered.

Disappointed
Having read previous outings involving Temperance Brennan, although not for some time, I was keen to dip back in to find out what was going on with her but, and I am really sorry to say this, this one just didn't grab me like they usually do and I found myself jumping in and out rather than being captivated and enthralled. If I'm honest, I think this is my fault ... I should have kept up with the series as I believe I have missed out on an awful lot.

I found the story really hard to get into with quite a bit of inner dialogue which was a little tedious. It did pick up the more I read but just not enough to keep my interest from start to finish. The characters however are excellent and the bones of the story is there, I just felt the execution wasn't as good as previous books from this author.

I do think that people who have read the entire series will enjoy it more than I did and I would therefore suggest that if you are thinking of starting with this one, don't as it will put you off reading more of this author's work and you will certainly be missing out.

Thank you to Simon & Schuster UK and NetGalley for my copy in return for an honest review.

A book to help if you are struggling
A friend of mine going through a hard time recommended this book. I'm not usually one for reading non-fiction books but as my friend found it useful and I wanted to help her, I decided to read it. It's not a difficult read (although it's an emotional read) nor a long read. It tells Matt's own tale of wanting to die and how he moved on from that. Knowing how my friend was struggling (and found it difficult to communicate her feelings), I found this emotional, reading how someone could feel so low, could contemplate ending their life. It opened my eyes to how my friend might be feeling and helped me communicate with her.

"I think you’ve got to go with the classics. You’ve got to go with The Wizard of Oz. That’s the one that I can think of as a kid you always looked forward to, because when I was a kid, they only aired it at Thanksgiving. You had to wait. There was no DVRs, there was no Netflix. Until the network ran it on Thanksgiving, you didn’t see it. You couldn’t record it, nothing. The fact that it still holds up; it’s one of those movies you can’t redo. You can redo it, but it’s not going to be the same. We found that out with Peter Pan, when they tried to do that."

This was such a great movie
I watched the movie many times as I grew up. It is one I still continue to watch alongside others. I would recommend this film if you are looking for a fun adventure film that the family can watch.

"This is a song that mixes humor and sadness beautifully. My wife and I went to see Jason in Red Bank, NJ at the Count Basie Theatre a couple years ago and this was a song I wasn’t familiar with a the time but it immediately registered with us both. I went home and found the record it was on and I think it’s a heartbreaking song with a little bit of laughter to ease the blow. It will also make you think twice about covering Hendrix… you never know who’s watching."

NO ONE KNOWS THE MIND OF A KILLER LIKE EMMA KAVANAGH.

I've been watching you DS Alice Parr.

I saw you trying to save the poor young woman you found in the park.

The woman I tried to kill.

I've been waiting for you to find her family. To find someone who cares about her.

But you can't can you?

You've never had a case like this.

I know everything about you. You know nothing about me.

Even though I'm the man you're looking for.

And you will never catch me...

This was such a good book! I really enjoyed it, well written with a great plot and from what I can gather it continues into her next book. Definitely want to read more from this author.
