Sadly, didn't hold my interest
I am a fan of Mr Masterton's books and have been for many, many years and I have always found his books gripping but, alas, this book just didn't do it for me at all and I am quite upset about that!

The premise of the book is interesting and the action starts almost immediately and there are plenty of moments that make you hold your breath or make you feel squeamish but, for some reason, I quickly lost interest. This may have been because I found it hard to get attached to the characters and I wasn't really that bothered what happened to them or maybe it's because the mystery element of what was behind the door was revealed early on ... I don't know but it just didn't grab me like his other books have done and this makes me feel quite sad.

This book has however received a lot of 4 and 5 star reviews so my suggestion is you don't take my word for it and give it a go ... let's face it, if we all liked the same thing, the world would be a very boring place indeed.

Thank you to Bloomsbury Publishing via NetGalley for my copy in return for an honest review.

I absolutely love Jane Austen's books! Though I did find more enjoyment in Pride and Prejudice, I really liked this one too. The characters were all very strong personalities and there were many instances that I found myself feeling almost overly attached to them (even thought this is nothing new for me). I especially enjoyed the familial bonds throughout the book. They were really profound and strong, something that isn't always touched upon in the more modern novels. If you like novels about women during this time trying to find a way to survive in the world, pick up this book. If you liked Pride and Prejudice, pick up this book. If you are not sure how you feel about classic literature, maybe pick this one up. Basically, if you like a good book, pick this one up. I am very happy that I had to read this book for one of my classes. It gave me a lot of enjoyment, plus a little break from doing all of my other work. I highly recommend this book!

I read this over a weeks period while on holiday, and I found it difficult to put down! I've always been interested in crime, especially that of murders and kidnappings, so Helter Skelter seemed the perfect book for me. I love how in depth Bugliosi gets in this book, there's not a single piece of information missing. Once you finish this book you will know the Manson case inside out.

The second half can become a bit tedious due to the fact that it's all about the court case, however it still manages to grip you just as you're feeling a bit sleepy.

I may even go back to read this book again.

"All of Wes’s stuff is great, but I really love this one because it was the first time Wes found Wes 2.0. It was like, oh, you’ve unlocked another way of shooting for yourself, which you now see manifested in films like Moonrise Kingdom. His style is now wider than ever."

Sushi Go Party!
Sushi Go Party!
2016 | Card Game, Party Game
Variety of different cards you can use (1 more)
Lovely art
Strongly recommend
I'll start this review by stating that I had originally played the original sushi go, and when I found out there was an expansion I immediately purchased it.

Like its predecessor, the aim is to score points which depend on the cards you collect through out the game. You play three rounds, blah blah blah. If you're looking at this game you know how to play the original. This expansion adds the ability to take and input cards with different rules meaning that each game can be completely different.

Highly recommended for fans of the original. Also easy to pick up for those who haven't played the first.

If you know anything about Gods and Goddesses of any pantheon, then you will know that things are never smooth and simple. Instead, confusion abounds until such time as it makes sense. This is how I would describe Hunter Sacrificed. It is a short prequel that nevertheless manages to impart a huge amount of information. You learn about Minerva and Arawn, the Triad, and how the Wild Hunt comes to be.

Although this was short, it was very well written, with no editing or grammatical errors that I found. This is enough to whet your appetite and definitely leave you wanting more. Definitely recommended.

Feels like a typical 90's action film (2 more)
Cheesy but in a good way
Some great action scenes
Old school action film
I really enjoyed this, it felt like a Arnie action film from when he was at his peak. Slightly silly plot but I found it funny and enjoyable. If you want something that brings back the 90's action film vibe, then this is it.

If you've ever seent he quiz show QI, you pretty much know what to expect: lot's of well known 'facts' that are shown to be wrong, usually due to semantics.

This is a collection of such articles from the show, interspersed by 'comic' quotations from the participants - quotations which, for the most part, I found to be painfully unfunny. Maybe I just don't get the humour shown ... ?

If you know me, besides true crime, you will know I love ghost stories. Especially true accounts of them. That made this the perfect book for me. I found this at a used book store in the city of Orange, California when I was visiting my friends and it was so cheap, I couldn't pass it up. With so many first person true accounts as well as descriptions of famous haunted places around the world, it was indeed an interesting read. I loved how it was broken up into sections of similar stories, so that will make it easier to go back to if I find it necessary (which I most definitely will at some point)! Brad Steiger, great job compiling this book!
