Kermit recommended Deliverance (1972) in Movies (curated)

Deliverance (1972)
Deliverance (1972)
1972 | Classics, Drama

"I hesitate to say Deliverance, but I must say I like the banjo, so why don’t we go with that? It was shot down in the swamp, where I’m from, and I think there’s a pig scene, too, so there you go. We’re all set."

A Clockwork Orange (1971)
A Clockwork Orange (1971)

"I remember seeing A Clockwork Orange as a very young kid — probably too young to be seeing it — and there was something kind of dangerous about that world. It was like I know I should have been watching, but there was something about the style in which it was shot. Maybe it was how long the camera stayed looking at one thing, but it didn’t move very far. It captured a certain theatrical nature of something. There was almost a vaudeville quality to it all as well. I think I’m drawn to that because I have a love of theatre, and of pictures that are perhaps a little bit larger than life."

Not bad
I kept waiting for this movie to start. There was so much backstory and the villain was just dumb. There should have been more Joker and he was absent for most of the film. The other Squad members are just kind of lame. Nice try DCU...better luck next time.

This was a gore-fest! 100% gore-fest! And for that...it was fab!

People bleeding here, people bleeding there, blood for fun, blood for no reason...here have some blood! (And maybe an eyeball...I'm feeling generous).

<img src="http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a46/julius1213/blood.gif"; width="300" height="300"/>

I mean seriously, how great was that gore? (Gore-whore right here *waves*)

Then why the 3 stars you ask? Why not 5?

It was too short...waaaaaay too short for any kind of story or character development, too short for any real explanations and it just left me with lots of unanswered questions. Personally, I would love to see this as a full length novel as I want to know what happens next.

That twist was kick-ass by the way!

More character development was definitely needed as there were too many people being introduced and I lost track...sooo who is that person? Oh...but I thought that was her...wait that was him? *confused*

But that gore though...WIN!

I really liked the characters but I think a few could have been more developed. There was a definate flow to the story and a build to a climax. Some points it seemed too much like an action film but it is fiction. Overall it was an enjoyable face paced read. There may be some triggers when it comes to domestic abuse though.

A bit silly
I will be honest I was dissapointed. There was a lot of darkness missing and a lot of over the top silliness. To be this murderous and crazy you need a dark and twisted mind. Let's explore that a little bit.

I am glad that I read this book again. I read this novel in high school and I hated it. I felt that it was too slow and felt like there were too many details yet not enough.

Now, 6 years later, I enjoyed reading this novel. I still thought that the novel dragged. I kept feeling like the book would not end. I enjoyed the adventure in this novel and the story created was magnificent. I, however, would have liked the novel to be more of a fast paced novel.

Great story, characters, dynamics. Fresh Ideas in the zombie genre. (0 more)
Not too much was bad. The pace sometimes faltered a little I thought. There were ideas that could have run with but didn't. (0 more)

"There are Beatles songs I hate - 'Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da' - but so what? England is where my brain was. I was always too chicken to move here: why would I want to be in competition with all these guys. It was always exciting to see what the Beatles would do next. The good stuff just can't be topped."

I received an arc copy from Netgalley of this book for an open and honest review.
I was surprised to find that I really liked this book, more than I expected too. It was well written and interesting. The plot was current and hits home as to just how much work goes on behind the scenes to thwart terrorism and I love how 2 different departments worked together. Its scary and real about radicalisation and I was plesed to see there were no type casts in this story.
There were a few things that made this a 4 star rating- in some areas I felt the story was perhaps a little rushed (near the beginning) and some parts could have been more polished. As I was reading this I felt I had missed something (I didn't know there was a prequel to this) I didn't know the whole background story which threw me off.
But the storyline was greatc and kept me hooked :)
